Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt (quad) has a quad contusion and could miss Friday's preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks, according to head coach Andy Reid. The 30-year-old appeared in last week's game against the Arizona Cardinals, logging three total touches for 17 yards. While any preseason injury is not ideal, the team is likely to be extra cautious with its veterans ahead of Week 1 of the regular season. The Chiefs' backfield is one of the most difficult to navigate for fantasy football, as Isiah Pacheco, Elijah Mitchell, Hunt, and seventh-round rookie Brashard Smith could all factor into a committee. However, Pacheco should be viewed as the starter for now.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBallerSource: Nate Taylor

Kansas City Royals right-hander Michael Lorenzen (oblique) will come off the injured list and slot back into the starting rotation on Saturday against the division-rival Chicago White Sox, according to Anne Rogers of MLB.com. Rookie right-hander Ryan Bergert is scheduled to start the series finale on Sunday, while lefty Bailey Falter will head to the bullpen, according to manager Matt Quatraro. The 33-year-old Lorenzen just doesn't have much fantasy upside, but he did throw 85 pitches in his final minor-league rehab start and is getting one of the best matchups in baseball for his first start back. He's been out since mid-July with a strained left oblique and had a middling 4.61 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in his first 99 2/3 innings before getting hurt. In his lone start against the White Sox this year, Lorenzen picked up a win by allowing two earned runs with two walks and seven K's in six innings pitched.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com - Anne Rogers

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is not likely to play in the team's second preseason game of the year against the Seattle Seahawks on Friday, according to head coach Andy Reid. The two-time NFL MVP played against the Arizona Cardinals last week, throwing one pass for one yard and a touchdown. Needless to say, Mahomes doesn't need to take part in much preseason action to get ready, and it's a bonus for fantasy managers that he will not risk getting injured before Week 1 of the regular season. While Rashee Rice is expected to serve a suspension at the beginning of the year, Kansas City's passing attack could improve in 2025 with Rice, Marquise Brown, Xavier Worthy, and others taking a step forward. That said, Mahomes is unlikely to finish as a high-end QB1 in fantasy football based on what we've seen over the last two seasons.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBallerSource: Matt McMullen

Baltimore Orioles shortstop prospect Wehiwa Aloy was assigned to Single-A Delmarva on Tuesday. The 31st-overall pick in this year's MLB Draft played in his first professional game after the assignment, going 2-for-5 with a pair of singles and one run scored for the Shorebirds. With a freshly updated prospects list at MLB.com that includes the 2025 draft class, Aloy slots in as the Orioles' fifth-ranked prospect after coming off a season at Arkansas in which he slashed .350/.434/.673 with 21 home runs and nine steals in 65 games for the Razorbacks. With big power and a solid hit tool, it's worth keeping an eye on how the Hawaiian performs over the remainder of this season and into next to see if he becomes a must-stash in dynasty leagues.--Jarod RuppSource: MiLB Central

San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman (hand) is dealing with soreness on his previously sprained hand and will get the day off on Wednesday to recover in the series finale against the division-rival San Diego Padres at Oracle Park. Casey Schmitt will make the start at third for the Gigantes and will bat third against Padres right-hander Nick Pivetta. Chapman missed over a month with his previous hand injury, so this is something to keep an eye on and could send him back to the injured list if it doesn't improve quickly. It's been a disappointing season offensively for Chapman, as he's hitting just .229/.337/.423 with 16 home runs, 44 RBI, 53 runs and seven steals in 345 at-bats. In the month of August, Chapman has gone just 6-for-37 (.162) with a double, two RBI, four runs scored and 11 strikeouts in 11 games played.--Keith HernandezSource: San Francisco Chronicle - Shayna Rubin

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (undisclosed) is back at practice on Wednesday after missing some time with an undisclosed injury. The former first-round pick out of Alabama was deemed "day-to-day" recently but is now a limited participant in practice. Given Waddle's history of getting banged up, the team is likely to be cautious with its young star wideout. Tyreek Hill (oblique) is also not participating in team drills. If Waddle can stay healthy, he could provide a tremendous return at his WR3 price tag in fantasy drafts. Tight end Jonnu Smith is now in Pittsburgh, and there's a real chance Hill is set to continue to regress after his age-30 season. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his latest injury updates ahead of prime fantasy draft season.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBallerSource: Sun Sentinel

Baltimore Orioles outfield prospect Enrique Bradfield Jr. (hamstring) was activated from the 7-day injured list on Tuesday. The Orioles' fourth-ranked prospect has been sidelined with a hamstring strain and hasn't played in a game at Double-A since July 10, with this being the second time this season he's missed games due to injury. The 23-year-old is hitting just .254 for Double-A Chesapeake over 37 games, but has more walks (24) than strikeouts (22) at that level, and his calling card is his top-of-the-scale speed, which helped him swipe 14 bags for the Baysox. With so much missed time, his MLB debut will likely have to wait until 2026, but his game-changing speed is what will make him a fantasy asset when he finally arrives.--Jarod RuppSource: MiLB.com

Three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has drawn interest from several NFL teams and plans to play somewhere this year, a source tells Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Beckham does not intend to retire and continues to train in anticipation of getting back on the field soon. The 32-year-old veteran will probably be a long shot to return any fantasy value this year, but it will depend on where he ends up. The former Offensive Rookie of the Year played in only nine games (no starts) with the Miami Dolphins in 2024 and finished the season with nine catches on 18 targets for 55 yards and no touchdowns. OBJ will be looking for a bigger role than that, but it's unclear if any other NFL team will be able to offer him anything more than a depth role in 2025.--Keith HernandezSource: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

The Washington Nationals are planning to activate outfielder Dylan Crews (oblique) off the 60-day injured list for Thursday's series opener against the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies, according to Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports, barring a setback when he serves as the designated hitter on Wednesday for Triple-A Rochester in his final minor-league rehab game. The 23-year-old former top prospect has been sidelined with a strained oblique since May 20 and will be hoping to close out his season on a high note after beginning poorly before he was hurt. The former second overall pick in 2023 out of LSU will return to a rough .196/.266/.354 slash line with seven home runs, 15 RBI, 24 runs and 11 stolen bases. He has two home runs, seven RBI, five runs and a steal in his 12 rehab games. Despite Crews' poor numbers, he should be an everyday player for the rebuilding Nats when he returns.--Keith HernandezSource: MASN Sports - Mark Zuckerman

Colorado Rockies infield prospect Ryan Ritter (finger) began his rehab assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday. The Rockies' 12th-ranked prospect has been on the shelf with a lacerated finger, not having played in a game since July 19. The 24-year-old went 1-for-4 with two RBI for the Isotopes in Tuesday's contest. The Rockies are currently rolling with Adael Amador at second base since Thairo Estrada (hamstring) hit the injured list, but will probably be inclined to use Ritter there once healthy. Ritter hit .238 with four doubles, two triples, and a home run in 31 games for Colorado earlier this season, although a 31.0 percent strikeout rate will need to improve if he's going to stick around, and he's best left on fantasy waiver wires for now.--Jarod RuppSource: MiLB.com

San Francisco 49ers offensive lineman Ben Bartch (undisclosed) exited Wednesday's practice early. Nick Wagoner of ESPN noted that it was not clear what injury the 27-year-old suffered. He departed about halfway through the team's session and was eventually replaced by rookie Connor Colby, whom the 49ers selected in the seventh round of the draft. Bartch has spent each of the past two seasons in San Francisco after starting his NFL career with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Last season, Bartch typically had a depth role on the offensive line and only appeared in three games. He only logged more than 40 snaps in one contest and saw 10 or fewer snaps in each of his other two games. If Bartch were to miss time, fantasy managers should expect either Colby or 26-year-old Nick Zakelj to see more opportunities.--Andy SmithSource: Nick Wagoner

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs (knee) "easily got the most separation during WR one-on-one drills" during the team's joint practice with the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday, according to Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald. This is good to hear from a veteran player coming off a torn ACL that ended his season early with the Houston Texans in 2024. He did not play in the preseason opener last Friday against the Washington Commanders, and his status for the Week 1 regular-season opener remains somewhat in question. However, he's mainly been a full-go in practices this summer and appears to be on track to be ready to go when it matters in early September. If Diggs gets work in the second preseason game against the Vikings, it would be a great sign for his Week 1 availability. In his first year in New England, Diggs is expected to be quarterback Drake Maye's top target.--Keith HernandezSource: Boston Herald - Doug Kyed

Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson said that his starters, including second-year quarterback Caleb Williams, will play in the second preseason game on Sunday night against the Buffalo Bills. Williams and most of the Bears starters did not see any action in the preseason opener against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The 33-year-old former first overall pick in 2024 was up and down in his first NFL season and mostly disappointed, and the Bears' passing attack has struggled in training camp practices in Johnson's first year as the head coach. Williams has plenty of weapons at his disposal and should be better off in Johnson's offense, but he will need to cut down on sacks taken and improve his accuracy to take the next step. The jury is still out on Williams, but he's worth taking as a high-end QB2 with upside if he clicks with Johnson.--Keith HernandezSource: The 33rd Team - Ari Meirov

The Chicago Bears are expecting defensive backs Jaylon Johnson (leg) and Kyler Gordon (hamstring) to be ready for their regular-season opener against the Minnesota Vikings. Johnson is "on the right track" to be cleared for Week 1, according to head coach Ben Johnson. Gordon is still viewed as week-to-week, according to Chris Emma of 670 The Score, but is hoping to appear in a preseason game. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor their status in case they face a setback leading up to the regular season. Johnson is a Pro Bowl defensive back who enjoyed another strong campaign in 2024, totaling 53 tackles with two interceptions. Gordon inked a three-year extension with Chicago in the offseason and is slated to also serve as a starter in the secondary. With both Johnson and Gordon expected to be ready for the regular season, the Chicago defense will have streaming appeal in favorable matchups.--Andy SmithSource: Chris Emma

Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said that star wide receiver Justin Jefferson (hamstring) won't take part in joint practices with the New England Patriots this week, although he has continued to take part in walk-throughs. Jefferson will be re-evaluated next week. The 26-year-old All-Pro will not play in the second preseason game against the Patriots, but he is making progress as he recovers from a hamstring. It's a bit worrisome not to see Jefferson practicing with the team in training camp, but the Vikings are playing this one very cautious with one of the best pass-catchers in all of football. They have more reason to play it safe with WR2 Jordan Addison to be suspended for the first three games of 2025. Jefferson is missing out on key chances to gain chemistry with quarterback J.J. McCarthy, but he's still the No. 2 fantasy wideout behind Ja'Marr Chase.--Keith HernandezSource: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Ben Goessling

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced on Wednesday that they placed outfielder Oneil Cruz (concussion) on the seven-day concussion injured list and recalled outfielder Ronny Simon from Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move. Cruz will miss at least the next week after colliding with teammate Jack Suwinski in the sixth inning of Tuesday's loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. Although the Dominican outfielder is batting just over the Mendoza Line on the year, he does have 18 homers, 51 RBI, 58 runs and 34 steals and should remain stashed in all fantasy formats while he recovers. In the meantime, the Pirates will shift Suwinski to center field for Wednesday's series finale in Milwaukee. Alexander Canario will be another option in center for Pittsburgh while Cruz is out. Hopefully, Cruz's break will get him back after track after slashing .188/.245/.341 over the last 30 days.--Keith HernandezSource: Pittsburgh Pirates

Miami Marlins right-handed reliever Jesus Tinoco (forearm) discontinued his throwing program and is undergoing further evaluation, according to Christina De Nicola of MLB.com. Tinoco was having a tough time boucing back arm-wise the day after throwing. It's unclear now when the 30-year-old Venezuelan might be able to return to Miami's bullpen, but this setback means he might not return until the final month of the season in September. Before getting injured, he had posted a bloated 5.12 ERA (3.98 FIP) and 1.29 WHIP with a career-high four saves, eight walks and 10 strikeouts in 19 1/3 innings over 20 relief appearances in his first full season with the Fish. The Marlins are not going to rush Tinoco back, so there's also the possibility that he doesn't pitch again in the big leagues the rest of the year.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com - Christina De Nicola

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Albert Suarez (shoulder) began his minor-league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Double-A Chesapeake and is being prepped for a bulk-relief role in the big leagues when he comes off the injured list, according to MASN's Roch Kubatko. Suarez threw 11 of his 15 pitches for strikes during his brief outing on Tuesday. The 35-year-old veteran made only one appearance (2 2/3 innings of relief) for the Orioles to begin the year before landing on the IL back on March 28. Because of the long layoff due to his shoulder injury, Suarez is going to need at least a handful more rehab outings on the farm before Baltimore activates him for a long-relief role out of their bullpen. Fantasy managers can stay away. Suarez has a 4.07 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 198:80 K:BB in 252 career innings over four big-league seasons.--Keith HernandezSource: MASN Sports - Roch Kubatko

Chicago White Sox outfielder Mike Tauchman (shoulder) has been scratched from the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the division-rival Detroit Tigers due to right-shoulder soreness, according to Bruce Levine of 670 The Score. Manager Will Venable said that Tauchman is considered day-to-day for now, and the team doesn't have plans to get imaging on him yet. Brooks Baldwin will now play right field and bat eighth, while catcher Kyle Teel serves as the designated hitter and bats leadoff against Tigers rookie right-hander Troy Melton. Tauchman has hit a decent .277 (66-for-238) on the year but with only eight home runs, 31 RBI an 32 runs scored for the worst team in the American League. Teel will be a DFS sleeper at catcher, although he has only two homers and 13 RBI in his first 149 MLB plate appearances.--Keith HernandezSource: 670 The Score - Bruce Levine

Texas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford (forearm) is dealing with forearm tightness and will sit out Wednesday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News reports. The Rangers haven't released their lineup yet, but it's likely the just-activated Evan Carter will replace Langford in center field. While the Rangers don't believe Langford's injury is serious, they'll take a look at it to make sure, according to McFarland. Langford has spent time on the 10-day injured list twice this season with oblique issues, but he has still appeared in 100 games and hit a decent .239/.325/.412 with 16 homers, 48 RBI, 49 runs scored, and 15 stolen bases in 428 plate appearances.--Connor ByrneSource: Shawn McFarland - Dallas Morning News

New York Giants wide receiver Jalin Hyatt (undisclosed) returned for Wednesday's joint practice against the New York Jets, according to Paul Schwart of the New York Post. It's unclear why Hyatt was held out of the preaseason opener on Saturday against the Buffalo Bills, but he's back at practice now and should be able to suit up for the second preseason game against the Jets. It's unclear if his recent absences had anything to do with the minor lower-body injury that he suffered early in training camp. The 23-year-old should have more opportunities on offense with Malik Nabers (shoulder, toe) still being held out with multiple nagging injuries. In 16 games in 2024, Hyatt disappointed with eight catches on only 19 targets for 62 yards. Hyatt isn't even in the top 100 receivers at RotoBaller for the upcoming season.--Keith HernandezSource: New York Post - Paul Schwartz and Ryan Dunleavy

The Texas Rangers have placed outfielder Adolis Garcia (ankle) on the 10-day injured list with a sprained ankle, according to Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News. The team is replacing Garcia with outfielder Evan Carter (back), who's returning from the 10-day IL after a bout with back spasms. It's unclear when Garcia suffered the injury, but he played in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks and went 0-for-4 with an RBI. Garcia has gone just 9-for-46 (.196) with one home run in 11 games this month. The 32-year-old is hitting a less-than-stellar .224/.266/.388 in 473 plate appearances, though he has contributed 16 homers, 64 RBI, 46 runs scored, and 10 stolen bases.--Connor ByrneSource: Shawn McFarland - Dallas Morning News

The Texas Rangers have activated outfielder Evan Carter (back) from the 10-day injured list and placed outfielder Adolis Garcia (ankle) on the 10-day IL with a sprained ankle, Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News reports. Carter is returning after missing a minimal amount of time with back spasms. He went on the IL on Aug. 2 after posting an abysmal .572 OPS in 21 games in July. Multiple injuries have limited Carter to just 55 games, and he has hit a mediocre .238/.323/.381 with four homers, 21 RBI, 27 runs scored, and 12 stolen bases in 189 plate appearances.--Connor ByrneSource: Shawn McFarland - Dallas Morning News

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers (shoulder, toe) remains out of the team's joint practice with the New York Jets on Wednesday, according to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post. It's been a week since Nabers last practiced, and he was also held out of the preseason opener. The 22-year-old former first-rounder from LSU has battled through a toe issue since his college days, but he also suffered a shoulder injury late in July. The Giants have already said that holding Nabers out of practices will be part of their plan to keep him healthy all year, so fantasy managers will want to get used to him being on the injury report, perhaps all season long. The Giants haven't provided many details on Nabers' injuries, but as things stand now, neither injury appears serious enough to keep him out for Week 1 of the regular season. Nabers is still a high-end WR1 target in fantasy.--Keith HernandezSource: New York Post - Paul Schwartz

Colorado Rockies catcher/designated hitter Hunter Goodman is not in the lineup for Wednesday's meeting with the St. Louis Cardinals. Braxton Fulford will catch and hit eighth versus right-hander Michael McGreevy, while Yanquiel Fernandez will handle DH duties and bat seventh. Goodman will take a seat after blasting a two-run, 442-foot homer to help the Rockies to a 3-0 win over the Cardinals on Tuesday. The 25-year-old has gone deep 23 times and slashed .275/.322/.519 with 66 RBI and 56 runs in 426 plate appearances during a breakout campaign. Goodman ranks third among catchers in both homers and RBI.--Connor ByrneSource: MLB.com

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar (knee) is back in the lineup on Wednesday against the Colorado Rockies. With Victor Scott II sitting, Nootbaar will play center field and hit seventh versus left-hander Austin Gomber. Nootbaar left early on Monday after fouling a ball off his knee, and the Cardinals held him out of the lineup on Tuesday as a result. After missing the second half of July with a rib injury, the 27-year-old has gotten off to a 6-for-26 start with no home runs or walks over seven games in August. Overall, Nootbaar has hit an underwhelming .227/.324/.375 with 12 homers, 40 RBI, 51 runs scored, and four stolen bases in 413 plate appearances.--Connor ByrneSource: MLB.com

New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner (calf) was held out of training camp practice on Wednesday with calf soreness, and head coach Aaron Glenn said the team is still evaluating the injury. The Jets are probably just being cautious with one of the best corners in the league, but we'll keep a close eye on the situation moving forward. The 24-year-old star defensive back just signed a four-year, $120.4 million contract extension last month that made him the league's highest-paid cornerback. Losing Gardner for any stretch of time would be a big blow to New York's secondary, but at this time, there's no indication that it's an injury that could keep Gardner out for Week 1 of the regular season. Gardner has been a first-team All-Pro in two of his three NFL seasons, although he does only have three interceptions in three years.--Keith HernandezSource: ESPN - Adam Schefter

St. Louis Cardinals first baseman/designated hitter Willson Contreras (foot) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Colorado Rockies. Alec Burleson will man first and bat cleanup, and Nolan Gorman will DH and hit fifth in a meeting with left-hander Austin Gomber. Contreras had to exit Tuesday's 3-0 loss to the Rockies early after taking a pitch off the right foot, but he was diagnosed with a bruise and shouldn't miss significant time. The 33-year-old has put together another quality offensive season, having slashed .255/.344/.443 with 16 homers, 65 RBI, 57 runs scored, and four stolen bases in 472 trips to the plate.--Connor ByrneSource: MLB.com

Atlanta Falcons reporter Joe Patrick of 929 The Game writes that Tennessee Titans rookie first-round quarterback Cameron Ward looked much better in joint practice with the Falcons on Wednesday and was taking more of what was available underneath while still connecting on some deep shots. Unexpectedly, the first overall pick in this year's NFL draft has been up and down during training camp and in the preseason opener last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 23-year-old Miami product went 5-for-8 for 67 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions against the Bucs in the two drives that he played over the weekend. Most importantly, Ward continues to show a strong connection with receiver Calvin Ridley, who will no doubt be his favorite target in 2025. Ward is a much better long-term gamble in dynasty leagues than he will be in redraft formats for fantasy football.--Keith HernandezSource: 929 The Game - Joe Patrick
