Albert Suarez Prepping for Bulk-Relief Role
Albert Suarez (shoulder) began his minor-league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Double-A Chesapeake and is being prepped for a bulk-relief role in the big leagues when he comes off the injured list, according to MASN's Roch Kubatko. Suarez threw 11 of his 15 pitches for strikes during his brief outing on Tuesday. The 35-year-old veteran made only one appearance (2 2/3 innings of relief) for the Orioles to begin the year before landing on the IL back on March 28. Because of the long layoff due to his shoulder injury, Suarez is going to need at least a handful more rehab outings on the farm before Baltimore activates him for a long-relief role out of their bullpen. Fantasy managers can stay away. Suarez has a 4.07 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 198:80 K:BB in 252 career innings over four big-league seasons.
