Since returning from injury earlier this year, Xander Schauffele has been solid, but not quite the dominant force we saw last season. He's posted three top-10 finishes in 14 starts, and after trending upward late in the summer, he opened the playoffs with a T22 at last week's FedEx St. Jude Championship. Schauffele has been a BMW Championship standout in recent years, finishing T8 or better in each of the last three editions, though this week marks a return to Caves Valley for the first time since 2021, where he placed T49. The renovated 7,600-yard, par-70 layout will reward both approach play and distance. Schauffele ranks 48th in total strokes gained, 10th in approach, and 28th in driving distance, but sits 110th off the tee and 125th in putting. At 43rd in the FedEx Cup standings, he needs a 21st or better finish to have a chance to advance to the Tour Championship.
