Troy Melton Starting on Wednesday
Troy Melton will start the team's game against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. It'll be the third start for the 23-year-old rookie, who has divided his time between the rotation and bullpen since the Tigers promoted him on July 23. Melton has made four appearances and recorded a 3.63 ERA with a 1.04 WHIP, 15 strikeouts, and four walks in 17 1/3 innings. On paper, he'll get a favorable draw against a Chicago team that ranks 27th in the majors in runs. However, after Melton combined for just 83 pitches in his two most recent appearances, he might not stay in for that long on Wednesday.Source: MLB.com

Browns Could Start Shedeur Sanders Again
Shedeur Sanders once again if neither Kenny Pickett (hamstring) or Dillon Gabriel (hamstring) is available, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The Browns take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday in their next preseason game. Veteran Joe Flacco is the leader in the clubhouse to start for Cleveland in Week 1, but the depth chart beyond that is up in the air as the Browns aim to sort things out during the preseason.Source: Cleveland Plain Dealer
Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said Wednesday that the team plans to start rookie quarterback Nolan McLean to Make MLB Debut on Saturday
Nolan McLean is set to make his MLB debut on Saturday against the Seattle Mariners. McLean has been one of the most dominant pitchers in the league this season and is finally being rewarded with a promotion. The right-hander opened the regular season with Double-A but needed only 26 1/3 innings to prove he was ready to join Triple-A Syracuse. At Double-A, he posted a stellar 1.37 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. Through 87 1/3 innings at the top level of the minor leagues, McLean posted a strong 2.78 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP. During this stretch, McLean struck out 97 batters and allowed 38 free passes. Over his last four outings, he has looked very impressive, holding a 1.96 ERA and a strong 0.83 WHIP. Fantasy managers should expect McLean to replace Frankie Montas in the starting rotation for the foreseeable future.Source: Andy Martino
New York Mets right-handed pitching prospect Saints Tackle Trevor Penning Dealing With Turf Toe
Source: Nick Underhill
New Orleans Saints offensive tackle Trevor Penning (toe) could be facing an extended absence, according to Nick Underhill of New Orleans Football. Underhill noted the injury generally takes between four and six weeks, which could leave the Saints with Penning for the start of the regular season. The tackle is an important piece for the club, though New Orleans may be forced to dip into its reserves for Week 1.Kenneth Walker III Back In Full Pads
Kenneth Walker III (foot) was a participant for the team's padded practice on Tuesday, according to Emerald City Spectrum. The Michigan State product missed six games last season, but has looked strong in practice and appears ready to go for Week 1, according to the report. Seattle and its revamped offense figures to lean heavily on Walker, who surpassed 1,000 yards rushing as a rookie and logged 46 catches last year despite missing extended time.Source: Emerald City Spectrum

Dameon Pierce Getting First-Team Work
Dameon Pierce is now seeing first-team reps, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC in Houston. The status of Joe Mixon (foot) is up in the air as the season approaches, while new addition Nick Chubb (head) has also missed time, to say nothing of the major knee injury he suffered in 2023. Pierce rushed for 939 yards as a rookie and has had fleeting moments of success since, but mostly in a secondary role. A committee situation may be worth monitoring as the season approaches.Source: KPRC

Akshay Bhatia a High-Upside Play at BMW Championship
Source: PGA Tour
After withdrawing from the Wyndham Championship, Akshay Bhatia bounced back with a T6 finish at the St. Jude Championship, his fourth top-10 finish of the season. He will look to keep that momentum going at the BMW Championship, which returns to a renovated Caves Valley for the first time since 2021. The 7,600-yard, par-70 layout will demand both strong approach play and distance off the tee. Bhatia ranks 27th in total strokes gained, 13th on approach, and 135th in driving distance. His biggest inconsistency has been his putter, losing strokes in seven of his last eight events, though he still sits 28th on tour in strokes gained putting. He also ranks 26th in proximity from over 200 yards, a key range given the course's length. Sitting 29th in the FedEx Cup standings, Bhatia is right on the bubble for next week's Tour Championship, making his $8,200 price tag on DraftKings an appealing play this week.A.J. Brown Misses Practice on Wednesday
A.J. Brown (hamstring) was a non-participant for the Eagles' joint practice against the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday, according to Ashlyn Sullivan of NBC Sports Philadelphia. The veteran has missed some time during the past two weeks dealing with the injury, but did log a pair of limited practices this week after sitting out a preseason game. The club doesn't seem overly concerned about the injury for its top wide receiver, but is clearly taking it easy ahead of its Sept. 4 opener against Dallas.Source: NBC Sports Philadelphia
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Robert MacIntyre a Safe Play at BMW Championship
Source: PGA Tour
Robert MacIntyre has been steady all season, recording five top-10 finishes and missing just two cuts in 21 starts. He struggled on approach last week at the St. Jude Championship, losing over six strokes and finishing T38 but will look to bounce back at the BMW Championship, which returns to Caves Valley for the first time since 2021. The newly renovated 7,600-yard, par-70 layout will demand both strong approach play and distance off the tee, two areas where MacIntyre holds his own, ranking 41st in approach and 63rd in driving distance. He also sits 54th in putting and 62nd in approach from over 200 yards, a key range given the course's length. Currently 20th in the FedEx Cup standings, he's well positioned for a spot in the Tour Championship. At $8,100 on DraftKings, he isn't the most appealing play on the board, but his upside keeps him in consideration for fantasy lineups.Nico Collins Looks Sharp in Team Practices

Sungjae Im a Risky Play at BMW Championship
Source: PGA Tour
After seven straight events with results of T53 or worse, Sungjae Im has rebounded with finishes of T17 and T27 in his last two starts. He'll look to carry that momentum into the BMW Championship, where he owns four straight top-15 finishes, including a third-place showing in 2021, the last time Caves Valley hosted. The renovated 7,600-yard, par-70 layout will reward both approach play and distance, two areas where Im has struggled this season, ranking 168th on approach and 142nd in driving distance. He does, however, make up strokes around the green, ranking third on tour in that category. Sitting 25th in the FedEx Cup standings, he needs only a steady week to lock up a spot in next week's Tour Championship. At $8,000 on DraftKings, Im can be left on the bench by fantasy managers, as there are stronger options at this price point.Tyreek Hill Returns To Practice
Tyreek Hill (oblique) is back for a joint practice against the Detroit Lions, according to Pride of Detroit's Jeremy Reisman. The 31-year-old is coming off an 81-catch, 959-yard season that was both still productive and a clear step back from four straight years in which he cleared 1,200 receiving yards. When healthy, though, Hill still has WR1 potential as the top option for Miami's passing game.Source: Jeremy Reisman
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Xander Schauffele Chases Big Week at BMW Championship
Since returning from injury earlier this year, Xander Schauffele has been solid, but not quite the dominant force we saw last season. He's posted three top-10 finishes in 14 starts, and after trending upward late in the summer, he opened theShane Lowry Aims to Rebound at BMW Championship
Source: PGA Tour
Since missing the cut at the U.S. Open, Shane Lowry has struggled, posting three straight finishes outside the top 40, including a T59 at last week's FedEx St. Jude Championship. He'll look to rebound at the BMW Championship, which returns to a renovated Caves Valley for the first time since 2021. The 7,600-yard, par-70 layout will emphasize approach play and distance. Lowry ranks 16th in total strokes gained, third on approach, and 136th in driving distance. He's also sixth in proximity from 175-200 yards, a range that could play a major role this week. Currently 23rd in the FedEx Cup standings, Lowry is safely in play for next week's Tour Championship. At $7,700 on DraftKings, he profiles as a reliable mid-range option due to his strong iron play.Si Woo Kim Looks to Build Momentum at BMW Championship
Source: PGA Tour
Si Woo Kim had missed three straight cuts heading into last week's FedEx St. Jude Championship, but he bounced back nicely with a T14 finish, gaining over eight strokes on approach. He'll look to carry that momentum into the BMW Championship, which returns to a renovated Caves Valley for the first time since 2021. The 7,600-yard, par-70 layout will put an emphasis on approach play and distance this week. Kim ranks 27th in total strokes gained, 31st in strokes gained on approach, and 142nd in driving distance. His short game is among the best on Tour, ranking 15th around the green, but his putting remains a weakness at 152nd. Sitting 41st in the FedEx Cup standings, Kim will need a 21st or better finish to have a chance to crack the top 30 and qualify for next week's Tour Championship. At $7,300 on DraftKings, Kim offers decent value, though his lack of distance could be a limiting factor.Matt Fitzpatrick Looking to Rebound at BMW Championship
Source: PGA Tour
After five straight finishes of T8 or better, Matt Fitzpatrick came back down to Earth with a T32 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. He'll look to get back near the top of the leaderboard at the BMW Championship, which returns to Caves Valley for the first time since 2021. The 7,600-yard, par-70 layout will put an emphasis on both approach play and distance this week. Fitzpatrick ranks 37th in total strokes gained, 84th in strokes gained on approach, and 85th in driving distance. He's a solid putter, ranking 26th, and also sits 17th in proximity on approach shots from over 200 yards. Currently 40th in the FedEx Cup standings, he'll need a strong showing to crack the top 30 required to advance to the Tour Championship. At $8,900 on DraftKings, it may be difficult to trust Fitzpatrick to pull off the feat.Patrick Cantlay Eyeing Another BMW Championship Victory
Source: PGA Tour
Patrick Cantlay finished T9 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, marking his fourth top-10 finish of the year while gaining over six strokes on approach. He looks to carry that momentum into the BMW Championship, where he has previously won twice, including the last time it was held at Caves Valley in 2021. The course has been renovated into a 7,600-yard, par-70 layout, putting an emphasis on distance this week. Cantlay ranks eighth in strokes gained on approach, 10th in total strokes gained, and 81st in driving distance. He is also 21st in birdie-or-better percentage and 78th in putting. Sitting 19th in the FedEx Cup standings, he is comfortably inside the top 30 needed to qualify for next week's Tour Championship. Cantlay is a strong DFS option this week.Brock Stewart Heading to the 15-Day Injured List
Brock Stewart (shoulder), the Dodgers' big deadline acquisition for the bullpen, has some shoulder inflammation. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts believes they caught it early, but he's going on the 15-day IL, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports. The Dodgers' bullpen continues to get hit with the injury bug, and Stewart will join Brusdar Graterol (shoulder), Michael Kopech (knee), Evan Phillips (elbow), Tanner Scott (elbow), and Kirby Yates (back) on the injured list. Stewart had last appeared in Saturday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. At this time, it seems unclear the level of severity of the shoulder injury, and that he will undergo further testing on Wednesday. Stewart has had a nice season thus far, with a 2.63 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and a 44/13 K/BB in 37 2/3 innings pitched.Source: Alden González
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Taylor Walls Lands on the 10-Day Injured List
Taylor Walls (groin) on the 10-day injured list and recalled outfielder Tristan Peters from Triple-A Durham, Rays Communications reports. Walls had been day-to-day since injuring his groin last Friday, August 8, against the Seattle Mariners. Walls is a strong defensive player; however, he has struggled at the plate this season, slashing .220/.280/.319 with 36 runs scored, four home runs, 38 RBI, and four stolen bases. Additionally, his career slash line in his five MLB seasons is .195/.286/.298. Although this is tough news for the Rays team and their fans, Walls is not a recommended option in fantasy baseball and should remain on the waiver wire.Source: Rays Communications

Jacob Misiorowski Scheduled to Throw a Bullpen on Tuesday
Jacob Misiorowski (tibia) is scheduled to throw a 30-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday and could begin a rehab assignment as soon as Friday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Misiorowski injured his leg when Seiya Suzuki hit a comebacker that struck Misiorowski's leg on July 28. He was diagnosed with a tibia contusion and appears to be heading in the right direction, and hasn't experienced any setbacks, as the swelling has gone down. Given his short stint on the IL, it appears likely he will require just one rehab start before joining the Brewers' rotation sometime next week. Misiorowski continues to be a must-start in all fantasy baseball formats, with his 2.70 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and 36.7 percent strikeout rate. This minor setback should not limit his ceiling in any way.Source: Adam McCalvy
Milwaukee Brewers young star James Cook Viewed by GM as Three-Down Back
James Cook is officially back in the fold after signing a four-year contract extension with his team on Wednesday. Soon after the signing was announced, Buffalo GM Brandon Beane told reporters that he views Cook as a three-down back. Beane said, "We do feel he can take more, but we like to use our three options and keep him fresh." Cook often lost passing-down work to Ty Johnson last season and only played on 48% of Buffalo's offensive snaps. It is unlikely that Buffalo installs Cook as their workhorse, as their running game was effective in 2024, but it would be a positive for fantasy managers if the Bills shifted some of the targets in the passing game onto Cook's plate. Either way, he sets up as a solid RB2 in fantasy with an RB1 ceiling if he starts catching more passes.Source: Alex Brasky on Twitter
Buffalo Bills running back Neemias Queta Wants to Raise His Free-Throw Attempts
Neemias Queta has a big season coming up, during which he's likely to take on a much bigger role than in previous years. He is focused on improving in 2025-26. "Obviously, I think it's making sure I get in great shape," the Portuguese big man said in an interview with CLNS Media's Bobby Manning. "Go out there and make elite decisions with the ball in my hands and making sure I get great finishes this year. I also want to raise up my free throw attempts this year." Queta added that he's also trying to improve his 62.7 career free-throw percentage and is "always" working on three-point shooting. Boston is expected to use Queta as its starting center in the new season, which will significantly increase his fantasy value.Source: CLNS Media Boston Sports Network
Boston Celtics center Celtics Stuggling to Trade Anfernee Simons
Anfernee Simons remains in limbo regarding his future. Sources have told Grant Afseth of FastbreakJournal.com that Boston is having trouble finding a trade partner for Simons' expiring $27.6 million contract. Simons signed a $100 million deal with the Portland Trail Blazers in 2022 and has been productive during the contract, but it appears he currently doesn't have enough trade value on the market. It's happened after a season in which Simons led Portland in scoring with 19.3 points per game and ranked second in assists with 3.8. According to Afseth, Simons "remains a trade candidate to monitor."Source: Grant Afseth
Boston Celtics guard James Cook, Bills Agree on Four-Year Extension
James Cook signed a four-year, $48 million contract extension on Wednesday. Cook had been holding-in throughout training camp but returned to practice on Tuesday as the two sides were apparently getting close to a deal. The contract extension has a $30 million guarantee and will keep Cook in Buffalo as their primary back for the near future. With Cook back in the fold, fantasy managers can confidently draft him as a solid RB2 heading into drafts later this summer. His return bumps Ty Johnson and Ray Davis back to reserve roles, although they should remain involved as Cook played on just 48% of the team's offensive snaps in 2024.Source: Tom Pelissero on Twitter
Buffalo Bills running back Cole Anthony Focuses on Winning with Bucks
Cole Anthony wants to battle for the NBA championship in the upcoming campaign. "I look at it as a great opportunity to enter another team where they have a playoff pedigree and a championship pedigree," Anthony told Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel. "They've won a 'chip there. I just want to get in there, contribute and do whatever I can for the team. I want to be a part of winning." Anthony is likely to have a decent role with the Bucks, whether as a starter or not, and should provide at least low-tier fantasy value. Over his career, he has averaged 12.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists, despite only starting 125 of 320 games.Source: Jason Beede
Milwaukee Bucks guard Jesse Edwards Moves to Australia
Jesse Edwards will kick off the new campaign in Australia after agreeing to join Melbourne United of the NBL. The Dutch seven-footer made his NBA debut last season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, appearing in two games. He played 18 games in the G League with the Iowa Wolves, averaging 11.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per contest. At 25 years old, Edwards is still relatively young and might get another chance in the NBA in the future. However, that depends on how well he performs outside of North America.Source: Melbourne United
