Los Angeles Clippers forward Nicolas Batum has decided to decline his $4.9 million player option for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. The veteran forward plans to test out free agency, but hasn't ruled out a return to the Clippers. It sounds like there is mutual interest from both sides, but we'll have to wait and see how free agency plays out. Last season, Batum averaged 4.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists across 17.5 minutes per game in 78 games with the Clippers. At this point in his career, Batum is a valuable veteran leader that can be an asset off the bench. Wherever he lands, Batum is unlikely to have fantasy value at this point in his career.--Andy WebbSource: Shams Charania

Atlanta Braves right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach dominated the Philadelphia Phillies in a 6-1 victory on Saturday. Schwellenbach (7-4) collected his seventh win after striking out a career-high 12 hitters while holding the Braves to one run on three hits and a walk. The 24-year-old has recorded double-digit strikeouts four times this season and amassed 13 quality starts in 17 tries. Boasting a 3.09 ERA with a 0.97 WHIP and 108:18 K:BB over a league-high 110 2/3 innings, Schwellenbach has emerged as a must-start for fantasy managers. He's scheduled to take on the Baltimore Orioles on July 4.--Connor ByrneSource: ESPN

Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani took the mound as the opener for Saturday's game against the Kansas City Royals. Ohtani tossed two scoreless innings, allowing one hit, one walk, and striking out one batter in the no-decision. The right-hander was able to touch 102 mph on his fastball, and he threw 20-of-27 total pitches for strikes. The plan was always for Ohtani to be done after two innings as the Dodgers are going to slowly ramp him up. He also went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts at the plate in this one. The pitcher version of Ohtani might not offer solid fantasy value until a little later in the season.--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman had a productive day at the plate during Saturday's game against the Kansas City Royals. Freeman couldn't do anything wrong at the plate as he reached base five times in this one. He blasted a home run in the seventh inning to get his team on the board. It was his 10th of the season as the home run numbers haven't quite been there for Freeman this season. He finished this game 3-for-3 with a home run, two walks, and two runs scored in the loss.--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com

Boston Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony came ready to swing the bat during Saturday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Anthony recorded a single in the second inning, but the fun didn't stop there. He would double in the fifth and eighth inning, which resulted in a 3-for-6 day at the plate for Anthony. It was his first multi-hit game of his young career. Anthony is 7-for-26 at the plate with four doubles and one RBI since being called up earlier this month.--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com

St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Ryan Helsley was called upon with a comfortable three-run lead during Saturday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. Helsley didn't have any issues as he retired all three batters also recording one strikeout as he notched his 16th save of the season. The 30-year-old continues to be a reliable option as closer, but is at risk of being traded at the deadline. Possibly, a trade would help his value. Regardless, Helsley should be rostered in basically all fantasy formats--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com

Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Washington Nationals. Neto is out of the starting lineup for the third straight game due to a shoulder issue. It's worth noting that Neto did enter Friday's game as a pinch hitter. Neto didn't play the field at all, but it sounds like he should be back soon. Kevin Newman will cover shortstop and bat ninth versus right-hander Mike Soroka on Saturday. Fantasy managers should check back on Sunday for another update on his status.--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com

Arizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Shelby Miller was called upon with a one-run lead in the ninth inning of Saturday's game against the Miami Marlins. Miller gave up a hit to Dane Myers who would eventually come around to score on a sacrifice fly to tie the game. The veteran right-hander was able to get out of the inning with only one earned run and struck out two batters. Despite the blown save, Miller has only been scored on twice this month. The D-Backs have a banged up bullpen, so Miller remains the favorite for saves going forward.--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com

Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz extended his hitting streak to four games during Saturday's contest against the New York Yankees. It was a quiet game from Kurtz until he blasted a three-run home run off right-hander Clarke Schmidt in the sixth inning. Kurtz has been crushing the ball lately with seven home runs over his last 13 games. He finished this game 1-for-4 with a homer, three RBI, and a walk in the 7-0 win. Kurtz has been hot with the bat lately and should be picking up steam on the waiver wire.--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com

Athletics starting pitcher JP Sears was sharp on the mound during Saturday's game against the New York Yankees. Sears has been hit around quite a bit lately, but put together arguably his best performance of the season on Saturday. Sears tossed 5 ⅔ scoreless innings, allowing two hits, walking three batters, and striking out four in the win. He handed the ball over to Jack Perkins who helped stop the Yankees offense and complete the 7-0 shutout. Sears will take a 5.09 ERA into his next outing against the San Francisco Giants. He's really only worth looking at in deep leagues right now.--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com

Atlanta Braves catcher Drake Baldwin is headed to the bench ahead of Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Baldwin is absent after starting in three of the last four games. During that span, Baldwin has gone 1-for-10 at the plate, so he could use a day off to reset. In his absence, Sean Murphy will do the catching and bat sixth versus left-hander Jesus Luzardo on Saturday. Baldwin doesn't see enough playing time to warrant rostering in anything more than deep leagues.--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com

Chicago Cubs catcher Carson Kelly is absent from the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Houston Astros. This appears to be a routine rest day for Kelly who has started in each of the last two games. During that span, Kelly went 3-for-7 with an RBI, one walk, and two runs scored. In his absence, Reese McGuire will start behind the plate and bat ninth versus right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. on Saturday. Fantasy managers should remove Kelly from their lineups ahead of first pitch.--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder/infielder Tommy Edman (ankle) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Kansas City Royals. This appears to be a routine rest day for Edman, but he has also been nursing an ankle injury. That being said, the Dodgers have been mainly keeping Edman in the infield lately. However, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Edman's ankle is good enough for him to return to the outfield. That means, Hyeseong Kim figures to see most of his playing time at second base, which is his primary position.--Andy WebbSource: Jack Harris

The Brooklyn Nets have exercised the team option on guard Keon Johnson on Saturday. Johnson will receive $2.35 million after having a career-year with the Nets. Last season, Johnson averaged 10.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists across 24.4 minutes per game in 79 games. Johnson played big minutes for the Nets down the stretch of the season. He has bounced around quite a bit during his career, but appears to have found a home in Brooklyn. The Nets are loaded with young talent, so we'll see where Johnson falls in the rotation when the season begins.--Andy WebbSource: C.J. Holmes

Atlanta Braves outfielder Michael Harris II is not in the lineup for the team's game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday. Eli White will man center field in Harris' place and bat seventh in a matchup with Phillies left-hander Jesus Luzardo. The lefty-swinging Harris could also sit Sunday against Phillies southpaw Ranger Suarez. per Mark Bowman of MLB.com. Manager Brian Snitker said he hopes the time off will give Harris a chance to clear his head. Harris has stolen 11 bases and racked up 43 RBI, but he has batted a hideous .212/.238/.320 with six home runs in 326 plate appearances.--Connor ByrneSource: Mark Bowman - MLB.com

The Portland Trail Blazers have exercised the team option on guard Rayan Rupert for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. Rupert will receive $2.2 million for next season and become a restricted free agent next summer. The 21-year-old has shown flashes of potential, but hasn't become a consistent performer yet. Last season, Rupert averaged 3.0 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 0.5 assists in 8.8 minutes per game across 52 contests. He posted some nice performances towards the end of the season, so possibly Rupert gets a bigger role next season. Regardless, Rupert isn't someone worth looking at in fantasy leagues.--Andy WebbSource: Sean Highkin

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Zach Eflin departed his start against the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday with tightness in his lower back, according to Jake Rill of MLB.com. Eflin exited after allowing four earned runs on five hits in the first inning. The Orioles replaced him with righty Scott Blewett. It was the third straight disastrous start for Eflin, who combined to throw eight innings of 13-run ball with 22 hits allowed over his previous two outings. The 31-year-old has recorded a bloated 5.95 ERA with 42:11 K:BB and a 1.44 WHIP in 62 innings. He was on the 15-day injured list earlier this season with a lat strain and could require another trip to the IL if his back issue proves serious.--Connor ByrneSource: Jake Rill - MLB.com

Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga has reportedly received a qualifying offer from the organization, according to Spotrac's Keith Smith. That means, Kuminga will head into free agency as a restricted free agent. This allows the Warriors to match any offer sheet that Kuminga gets during free agency. Honestly, it's unclear what kind of role Kuminga would have if he returned to Golden State. Last season, Kuminga averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists across 24.3 minutes per game. Kuminga played in a career-low 47 games, but he saw big minutes during the playoffs. It's also possible that the Warriors do a sign-and-trade here. Honestly, Kuminga would probably have better fantasy value elsewhere, but we'll wait and see what happens in free agency.--Andy WebbSource: Keith Smith

Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg (finger) will not require a stint on the 10-day injured list, interim manager Tony Mansolino said Saturday. Westburg aggravated a left index finger injury on Friday and was out of the lineup Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays as a result. He could miss "a couple of days," according to Mansolino. The 26-year-old has already spent over a month on the IL this season with a strained left hamstring. Since returning on June 10, Westburg has hit a solid .250/.327/.523 with three homers, eight RBI, and eight runs scored.--Connor ByrneSource: Jacob Calvin Meyer - Baltimore Sun

Los Angeles Dodgers rookie infielder/outfielder Hyeseong Kim has turned heads in limited playing time this season. The 26-year-old has only amassed 83 plate appearances in 35 games, but he has slashed a robust .372/.410/.538 with two homers, 12 RBI, 15 runs scored, and six stolen bases. Tommy Edman (ankle) has been the Dodgers' primary choice at second base despite dealing with ankle issues. However, Edman is now healthy enough to play the outfield on a more regular basis, manager Dave Roberts said Saturday. As a result, Kim could see more playing time at the keystone. He started at second and batted eighth against Kansas City Royals right-hander Seth Lugo on Saturday, while Edman took a seat. Kim is only rostered in 11% of Yahoo leagues, but that number will increase if Roberts does pencil his name into the lineup more often.--Connor ByrneSource: Jack Harris - Los Angeles Times

The Athletic's Doug Haller reports that the Arizona Cardinals expect second-year wideout Marvin Harrison Jr. to take the next step in 2025. Aside from the muscle that the Ohio State product added to his frame, quarterback Kyler Murray noted that he's operating with a different level of comfort and confidence thus far in his second year. Objectively, Harrison Jr.'s rookie campaign was by no means a failure. However, with the sky-high expectations put forth upon him, it certainly felt that way. More so, considering fellow rookie wideout Malik Nabers exploded onto the scene in a worse offense. The 22-year-old figured to improve in his second season anyway. Arizona gassing him up only makes him more intriguing in the first few rounds of drafts.--Alex CiullaSource: Doug Haller

Houston Astros shortstop Jeremy Pena (ribs) is taking a seat for the team's game against the Chicago Cubs on Saturday. Pena left early in the Astros' 7-4 win over the Cubs on Friday after taking a pitch off the left side of his ribs. He's day-to-day for now and will look to continue a career year when he returns. Pena is slashing .322/.378/.489 with 11 homers, 40 RBI, 48 runs scored, and 15 steals in 350 plate appearances. Mauricio Dubon will take Pena's place at short on Saturday and bat ninth against Cubs right-hander Colin Rea.--Connor ByrneSource: MLB.com

Cleveland Cavaliers forward Sam Merrill plans to sign a new long term deal with the organization. According to Shams Charania, Merrill intends to sign a four-year, $38 million deal with Cleveland. Merrill has spent each of the last three seasons in a reserve role with the Cavs. Last season, Merrill averaged 7.2 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.5 assists across 19.7 minutes per game in 71 contests. He's a consistent shooter that is a valuable option off the bench. Merrill is unlikely to offer much fantasy value, but this looks like a good deal for Cleveland.--Andy WebbSource: Shams Charania

Miami Heat guard Davion Mitchell plans to stay with the organization for a little longer. Mitchell intends on signing a two-year, $24 million deal with the Heat. The former ninth overall pick has been inconsistent during his five years in the league. Mitchell saw good success with Miami when he averaged 10.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 5.3 assists across 30 games with the team last season. Mitchell played over 30 minutes per game once he joined the Heat. He figures to get a legitimate shot at the starting point guard spot.--Andy WebbSource: Shams Charania

New York Giants wide receiver Jalin Hyatt reported recently on the Giants Huddle podcast that he's transformed his body ahead of his third pro season. "I played at like 170, 171 last year, I'm about 194, 195 now," said Hyatt. "I felt like that was one of the things that I needed to work on from last season, just felt weak. So I just had to get stronger." The 23-year-old also noted that he's had conversations with head coach Brian Daboll about moving around the formation more in 2025. Hyatt flashed as a deep threat in his rookie season but took a step back last year with the emergence of target-hog Malik Nabers. The Giants could use a solid second option in their passing attack, though one of Hyatt's most intriguing aspects is his 4.4 speed. If he's able to maintain that with an extra 20 pounds of muscle on his frame, a bounce-back campaign isn't out of the question.--Alex CiullaSource: Coral Smith

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell (shoulder) will undergo surgery on his ailing left shoulder on Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. His timeline to return is unclear, but Brewers manager Pat Murphy is hopeful that Mitchell will be able to play again this season. The 26-year-old originally landed on the 10-day injured list on April 26 with a strained left oblique. He was on his way back from that before suffering the shoulder injury on a minor league rehab assignment last week. Mitchell is now set for his second left shoulder procedure after previously going under the knife in April 2023. This has been a lost season to this point for Mitchell, who hit .206/.286/.394 in 78 homer-less plate appearances before going on the IL. He won't have a chance to improve on those numbers for the foreseeable future.--Connor ByrneSource: Adam McCalvy - MLB.com

The Tampa Bay Rays announced that they have designated right-hander Forrest Whitley for assignment and recalled lefty Joe Rock from Triple-A Durham. This is the second DFA of the year for Whitley, formerly a standout prospect with the Houston Astros. After almost nine years in their organization, the Astros jettisoned Whitley from their 40-man roster three weeks ago and then traded him to the Rays for cash considerations on June 13. Whitley logged three straight scoreless appearances to begin his Rays tenure, but the wheels came off in his two most recent outings. He combined to allow a whopping eight earned runs on nine hits and two walks over just one frame in those appearances. Another team could take a chance on Whitley via waivers or a trade in the coming days, but it doesn't help that the unproven 27-year-old is out of minor league options.--Connor ByrneSource: Tampa Bay Rays

The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled infielder Will Wagner from Triple-A Buffalo and optioned outfielder Alan Roden, the team announced. The 26-year-old Wagner is returning to the majors after spending two months in the minors. The Blue Jays demoted him April 29 after he batted a non-threatening .186/.284/.220 with no home runs in 68 plate appearances. Wagner hit a much better .271/.347/.447 with three homers in 95 Triple-A plate appearances to earn another chance in the bigs. He'll provide depth at third base behind Ernie Clement, who has put together a productive season. Roden, 25, is headed back to the minors after hitting just .206/.279/.309 with one HR in 111 trips to the plate with the Jays. He has raked in 83 plate appearances at the Triple-A level this year, having slashed .361/.446/.583 with three long balls.--Connor ByrneSource: Toronto Blue Jays

San Francisco Giants third baseman Casey Schmitt (wrist) was a late scratch from Saturday's lineup against the Chicago White Sox. The Giants initially had Schmitt penciled in to start at third and bat fifth, but they'll instead use Christian Koss at the hot corner and lead him off against White Sox starter Adrian Houser. Schmitt hasn't played since he took a 95 mph sinker from Miami Marlins reliever Calvin Faucher off the left wrist on Wednesday. X-rays came back negative, but with Schmitt scratched Saturday, it's an injury that's still worth monitoring. Schmitt has hit a highly productive 20-for-60 with four home runs and 12 RBI this month, so hopefully he'll be able to return soon. The Giants are already without injured starting third baseman Matt Chapman (hand), which has opened the door for Schmitt.--Connor ByrneSource: Shayna Rubin - San Francisco Chronicle

Colorado Rockies catcher/designated hitter Hunter Goodman (hamstring) will miss his third straight game on Saturday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Goodman hasn't played since Wednesday because of hamstring tightness. The hope is that it won't require a stint on the injured list, as Goodman has emerged as a terrific option for both the Rockies and fantasy managers. The 25-year-old is slashing .287/.332/.512 with 14 home runs, 48 RBI, and 40 runs scored in 310 plate appearances. Braxton Fulford will take his place and bat seventh Saturday against Brewers right-hander Quinn Priester. Fulford has gone an impressive 8-for-24 with 10 RBI this month.--Connor ByrneSource: MLB.com
