Luke Keaschall Sharp Since Returning to the Majors
Luke Keaschall has been nothing short of dominant since returning to the major leagues. The former second-round pick was sidelined for nearly three months due to a forearm fracture. However, throughout his first two games back with Minnesota, Keaschall has gone 4-for-9 at the plate with two doubles and a home run. During this stretch, the No. 42-ranked prospect in the sport tallied six RBI and scored one run. Earlier in the campaign, Keaschall made his MLB debut and flashed immense upside. In his first six games in Minnesota before suffering the fracture, Keaschall tallied three doubles and swiped five bags in a six-game stint. Fantasy managers should view Keaschall as a must-target on the waiver wire, as he should continue to see everyday opportunities in the Minnesota starting nine.Source: MLB.com
Minnesota Twins first base/second base/outfield prospect Justin Crawford Continues to Succeed at Triple-A
Justin Crawford has continued to find success and is making a strong case to join the Phillies for the stretch run. Over his last 11 games with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, the No. 3-ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com has posted a strong .333/.429/.361 line with an 11:6 K:BB and four stolen bases. While he is not known for being a power hitter, Crawford has shown strong contact skills with high-upside speed. Through 91 total games at Triple-A this season, the former 17th overall pick from the 2022 MLB Draft has posted a .327/.411/.423 line with 19 doubles and 31 stolen bases. He has only gone deep three times. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues looking to boost their stolen base total down the stretch should consider stashing Crawford, as he should be in the mix to debut in the majors before the end of the month.Source: MiLB.com
Philadelphia Phillies outfield prospect Samuel Basallo Riding Three-Game Home Run Streak
Samuel Basallo has continued to flash immense power upside at Triple-A and is quickly approaching his MLB debut. In each of his last three games at Norfolk, the top catching prospect in the sport has gone deep at least once and posted two multi-hit performances. Over his last 14 total games with the Tides, Basallo has held an eye-catching .362/.429/.862 slash line with eight doubles, seven home runs, 23 RBI, and an elite 1.301 OPS. Through 71 total games at the top ranks of the Baltimore system this season, the 20-year-old budding superstar has posted a .278/.387/.621 line with 16 doubles and 23 home runs. Given his elite power upside, fantasy managers should continue to view Basallo as a top hitting prospect to stash in all 12+ team leagues. With the Orioles out of the playoff picture, Basallo could make his long-awaited MLB debut in the coming weeks.Source: MiLB.com
Baltimore Orioles catching prospect Spencer Jones Swipes a Bag in Fourth Straight Game
Spencer Jones has been in a bit of a slump at the plate but has still made an impact at Triple-A. Over his last four contests, the budding star has stolen at least one base in each game. During this four-game stretch, Jones has gone just 2-for-12 at the dish with no extra-base hits. However, prior to this minor skid, Jones was flashing immense power at the top level of the minor leagues. Through his first 16 games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Jones held an impressive .426/.481/.941 slash line with five doubles and 10 long balls. Earlier this season, Jones spent the first half with Double-A Somerset and launched 16 long balls across a 49-game stint. Even though Aaron Judge is back in action, Jones remains a top hitting prospect to stash as he would carry immense power upside when given the call to the Bronx.Source: MiLB.com
New York Yankees outfield prospect Dylan Beavers Extends Hitting Streak, Nearing MLB Promotion
Dylan Beavers has continued to find success at Triple-A Norfolk and is on the verge of making his MLB debut. In his most recent contest, the outfielder went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI. This is his third-straight game tallying a hit and third-straight tallying at least one extra-base hit. Over his last 12 games, the No. 5-ranked prospect in the Baltimore system has been nothing short of dominant, posting an elite .349/.533/.907 slash line with a 1.440 OPS, three doubles, and seven home runs. Overall, the 23-year-old has posted a strong .309/.423/.538 line with 14 doubles, 18 home runs, and 22 stolen bases across 87 games at Triple-A Norfolk. With the Orioles moving several outfielders at the deadline, Beavers could make his MLB debut in the coming weeks. He is a top stash in redraft leagues given his ability to steal bases and hit for power.Source: MiLB.com
Baltimore Orioles outfield prospect J.J. Wetherholt Not Slowing Down at Triple-A
J.J. Wetherholt has continued to perform at a high level since joining Triple-A and is making a strong case to make his MLB debut in the coming weeks. The 22-year-old made his Triple-A debut earlier in July. Through his first 18 games with Memphis, the first-round pick from last year's MLB Draft has posted an elite .338/.420/.706 slash line with five doubles, one triple, six home runs, and two stolen bases. Earlier in the campaign, the West Virginia product opened the season with Double-A and held an impressive .300/.426/.466 line with 14 doubles, seven home runs, and a remarkable .891 OPS. Fantasy managers should consider the shortstop as a high-end prospect to stash for redraft leagues, as he could reach St. Louis before the end of the month.Source: MiLB.com
St. Louis Cardinals infield prospect Twins Place Christian Vazquez on Injured List With Shoulder Infection
Christian Vazquez (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list with a left-shoulder infection and recalled catcher Jhonny Pereda from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. It's unclear if Vazquez will be able to return in minimal time, but even if he does, the 34-year-old veteran backstop really isn't relevant at all in fantasy leagues. Ryan Jeffers has taken over the bulk of the playing time in Minnesota this year, and Vazquez was never much of an offensive talent to begin with. The Twins also have Mickey Gasper on the active roster, so Pereda will be the team's third catcher with Vazquez on the shelf. Vazquez has hit an ugly .174 (31-for-178) on the season with two homers, 13 RBI and 12 runs scored in a limited role in Minnesota.Source: Minnesota Twins
The Minnesota Twins announced on Friday that they placed catcher Mark Canha to Start Rehab Assignment on Friday
Mark Canha (elbow) to start a minor-league rehab assignment on Friday night with Double-A Northwest Arkansas. Canha will resume playing in games in the minors a month after going on the injured list with tennis elbow in his left arm. The 36-year-old veteran could be back in the big leagues as early as next week, but it's unclear how long the Royals might leave him on his rehab assignment. When Canha returns to the Royals, he'll be an option mainly against left-handed pitchers at designated hitter, first base and the outfield. However, the former seventh-rounder won't exactly excite fantasy managers looking for a waiver-wire pickup, as Canha has hit just .212/.272/.265 on the year with a homer, six RBI and nine runs scored in 46 games and 125 trips to the plate for KC.Source: Kansas City Royals
The Kansas Royals are expecting first baseman/outfielder Chris Sale Could Make Two Rehab Starts Before Returning
Chris Sale (ribs) are expected to send Sale on a minor-league rehab assignment next week as long as he feels good on Friday after his side session on Thursday, according to The Athletic's David O'Brien. Sale could need as few as two rehab starts before he's activated from the 60-day injured list for the final five to six weeks of the season. The 36-year-old veteran southpaw resumed throwing in mid-July, four weeks after he fractured two ribs while trying to make a defensive play on June 18. The Braves are in the midst of a disappointing lost season, so Atlanta isn't rushing Sale back, but he should be able to provide fantasy managers with a handful of starts to close out the season. The 2024 National League Cy Young winner should remain rostered in all fantasy formats with his return getting closer.Source: The Athletic - David O'Brien
Atlanta Braves left-hander Matt Gage to Open for Giants on Friday
Matt Gage will serve as the opener against the Washington Nationals on Friday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Right-hander Kai-Wei Teng had been penciled in to start, but he could end up working in a bulk relief role. While Gage probably won't throw more than a couple of innings at most (his season-high pitch count is 41), he'll look to keep an under-the-radar scoreless streak alive versus Washington. The 32-year-old hasn't allowed a run in 15 innings (13 appearances) divided between Detroit and San Francisco this season. Gage has only struck out 11 hitters, but he has helped offset that by inducing grounders at a 52.5% clip and issuing just five walks.Source: Shayna Rubin - The San Francisco Chronicle
San Francisco Giants left-handed reliever Nick Lodolo Playing Catch
Nick Lodolo (finger) made 20 throws and used a baseball with seams on Wednesday, according to the team. Lodolo felt fine afterward and is scheduled to play catch again Friday as he works back from a blister on his left index finger. The issue forced Lodolo to exit his start against the Chicago Cubs on Aug. 4, and the Reds placed him on the 15-day injured list the next day. The hope is that Lodolo will return when he's first eligible, as the 27-year-old has been one of playoff-contending Cincinnati's best starters. He has gone 8-6 with a 3.05 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP, 124 strikeouts, and 24 walks in 129 2/3 innings.Source: MLB.com
Cincinnati Reds left-hander Paul Sewald Hoping to Contribute in September, October
Paul Sewald (shoulder) is rehabbing a shoulder strain and hopes to help the AL Central leaders in September and October, according to Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic. Sewald began a throwing program Aug. 4 and has felt "great" in the early stages, but he noted that everything is "day-by-day in rehab." Although the 35-year-old hasn't pitched since July 11, the Tigers acquired him from the division-rival Cleveland Guardians at the trade deadline with the hope that he'd bolster their bullpen at the end of the season. Sewald recorded an unimpressive 4.70 ERA in 15 1/3 innings with the Guardians this year, though he did rack up 18 strikeouts against a mere four walks. He's on the 60-day injured list and eligible to debut with the Tigers on Sept. 10.Source: Cody Stavenhagen - The Athletic
Detroit Tigers right-handed reliever Luis Garcia Sharp in Triple-A Rehab Start
Luis Garcia (elbow) made his second Triple-A rehab start on Thursday and held his own across four scoreless innings. The 28-year-old yielded just three hits while posting seven strikeouts against no walks on 59 pitches (37 strikes). Garcia has now made six rehab starts overall as he works back from May 2023 Tommy John surgery. He'll likely get one or two more before making a long-awaited return to the Astros. Garcia amassed 69 appearances (63 starts) and logged a 3.61 ERA from 2021-23, but it's anyone's guess how effective he'll be when he comes back from two-plus years away from the majors.Source: MiLB.com

Logan Henderson Slated to Start on Saturday
Logan Henderson is slated to make at least one more start in the rotation. Henderson recently threw a no-decision during his outing against the Washington Nationals last Sunday. He went 4.1 innings, allowing one earned run on three hits while striking out four batters. The Brewers will give Henderson another start with Jacob Misiorowski (leg) still sidelined. The organization is hopeful that Misiorowski can return when first eligible on August 15. That being said, Henderson might only get this last start against the New York Mets on Saturday. He'll offer some low-end streaming value for that one.Source: mlb.com
