Felix Bautista Won't Return This Year With "Significant" Shoulder Injury
Felix Bautista (shoulder) will miss the rest of the season with a "significant" shoulder injury, according to interim manager Tony Mansolino. Bautista landed on the injured list in late July with swelling in his right shoulder. Because it's significant, the 30-year-old could require surgery, which would at least knock him out for half of next year, if not all of it. Bautista saved a career-high 30 games for the O's in his All-Star season in 2023, but he missed all of 2024 due to injury and was limited to 35 appearances this year. He went 1-1 with a 2.60 ERA (3.34 FIP), 1.12 WHIP, 19 saves, 50 strikeouts and 23 walks in 34 2/3 innings this year. Injury concerns are now real, but Bautista has had at least 15 saves in each of his three MLB seasons with a 2.01 ERA and 13.8 K/9. Keegan Akin has gone 2-for-3 in his save chances for Baltimore since Bautista's injury.
