Matt Chapman Leaves Early on Sunday, Expects to Play Monday
Matt Chapman (shin, foot) exited a 13-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday after fouling a ball off his left shin/foot in the bottom of the sixth inning. Chapman finished his plate appearance with a walk before the Giants subbed in Casey Schmitt to pinch run for him. It seems that it was a precautionary move on the Giants' part, though, as Chapman said after the game that he's doing fine and expects to play on Monday against the Colorado Rockies. After going 1-for-2 with a pair of walks on Sunday, Chapman is hitting .231/.341/.430 with 18 homers, 50 RBI, 60 runs scored, and nine stolen bases in 437 plate appearances. He played in 19 games in August and went just 13-for-64 (.203) with two HRs, eight RBI, 11 runs, two steals, and 13 walks.
