Jaroslav Halak Makes His Canucks Debut

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Jaroslav Halak is set for his team debut in Saturday's meeting with Detroit. The well-traveled veteran will start a quest for 300 career wins, needing 19 more to reach the milestone. He picked up nine victories in 19 appearances last season for Boston, recording a 2.53 goals-against average with a .905 save percentage and two shutouts. He'll have a lot more work playing in Vancouver. Thatcher Demko started the first two games of the season and faced 69 total shots. The continued absence of Brock Boeser (undisclosed) makes things difficult for the Canucks, but Detroit will be without their captain Dylan Larkin, who serves a one-game suspension, and it should even the playing field, putting Halak in a decent spot to grab a victory.
