Jared Jones Makes Opening Day Roster
9 months agoPittsburgh Pirates right-handed pitching prospect Jared Jones has made the team's Opening Day roster. The team's No. 3 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, didn't all an earned run over 16 1/3 Grapefruit League innings this spring. The 22-year-old is in line to start the third game of the season this Saturday against the Marlins in Miami, according to general manager Ben Cherington. In addition to not allowing an earned run in spring training, Jones walked eight and struck out 15. There's clear strikeout upside here for fantasy managers in deep-mixed and NL-only leagues, but control could be the problem as he gets a taste of big-league hitters for the first time. Obviously, Jones should be rostered in all dynasty/keeper leagues as well.
