2 years agoThe Arizona Diamondbacks acquired infielder/outfielder Diego Castillo from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday in exchange for minor-league right-hander Scott Randall. It comes after the Pirates designated Castillo for assignment earlier in the week. The 25-year-old made his big-league debut with Pittsburgh in 2022 and slashed a weak .206/.251/.382 with a .633 OPS, 11 home run, 29 RBI, 28 runs scored and a stolen base in 96 games played. Castillo has 30 home runs and a .693 OPS in seven minor-league seasons and will provide infield and outfield depth in the desert in 2023. The D-Backs were in a dealing mood on Friday, also landing catching prospect Gabriel Moreno and outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for catcher/outfielder Daulton Varsho.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
