Carlos Santana Absent On Monday
2 years agoPittsburgh Pirates first baseman Carlos Santana (back) is not in the starting lineup on Monday against the San Francisco Giants. Santana suffered from lumbar-spine muscle tightness on Sunday and was pulled from the game early, and he'll take a seat to begin the week. For now, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day, but this is definitely an injury that could send the 37-year-old veteran to the injured list this week. With Ji Man Choi (Achilles) still on the 60-day injured list, the Pirates are thin at the first base position. Outfielder Connor Joe will start at the cold corner on Monday and hit fifth against Giants right-hander Anthony DeSclafani. Santana is hitting just .226 on the year with three home runs and 24 RBI in 177 at-bats.
