The Athletics have transferred catcher Austin Wynns (abdomen) to the 60-day injured list, ending his season. Wynns went on the 10-day IL with an abdominal strain on Aug. 4, so the move to the 60-day IL makes him ineligible to return in 2025. The 34-year-old journeyman appeared in 40 games this season between the Reds and Athletics and hit a robust .291/.321/.544 with six homers, 21 RBI, and 13 runs scored over 110 plate appearances. Most of Wynns' production came with the Reds, who traded him to the Athletics for cash considerations on June 8. With Wynns now out of the mix for the A's, Willie MacIver has taken over as Shea Langeliers' backup.--Connor Byrne
