Andrew Benintendi Hitting Off Pitching Machine
2 years agoNew York Yankees outfielder Andrew Benintendi (wrist) hit off a high-velocity pitching machine on Thursday and will travel to Tampa to begin taking live at-bats. He could be activated from the injured list if the Yankees advance to the American League Championship Series next week. He hasn't played since Sept. 2 due to his wrist injury, but the Yankees could decide to include him on their roster if they advance past the Cleveland Guardians in the Division Series. The 28-year-old left-handed hitter would only boost an already potent Yankees lineup for the postseason. Benintendi played in only 33 games in the Bronx after being acquired from the Kansas City Royals, and he went 29-for-114 (.254) with two homers, 12 RBI, 14 runs and four steals in those 33 contests.
