Saves are an important component for many fantasy baseball leagues. Closers are one of the most volatile positions in fantasy baseball, and one of the highest turnover positions in MLB. Each year, closers drop like flies and many MLB teams make in-season changes due to injuries or poor performance. Stay on top of all closer depth charts for the AL and NL, and dominate in saves this year.

We will be updating the MLB Closers & Saves Depth Charts every day, all season long. Be sure to also check out these quick-hit notes from @IAmRickGraham summarizing the biggest bullpen news from around MLB:

    • 6/21/2018 - Mark Melancon nailed down the save last night. Both Sam Dyson and Tony Watson had pitched several times in the past few days, so this is a fluid situation and one to monitor closely.
    • 6/20/2018 - Cubs closer Brandon Morrow has been placed on the 10-day DL with back spasms. Steve Cishek, who has been awesome this season and has prior closing experience would probably be the best bet to fill in for him but a committee involving Pedro Strop and Justin Wilson is possible.
    • 6/20/2018 - The Giants officially named Sam Dyson the team's closer while Hunter Strickland is out injured. Will Smith initially started the ninth inning but walked a batter and Dyson was called on to close out the game and is the preferred add at the moment.
    • 6/19/2018 - Giants closer Hunter Strickland is out 6-8 weeks when he decided to punch a wall following his blown save last night. Bruce Bochy didn't mention Mark Melancon as his potential replacement, instead, he named Tony Watson and Sam Dyson as possible fill-ins. I still think Melancon has to be in consideration, and he would be my second option when it comes to waivers/FAAB. Tony Watson should be added in all formats, with Melancon second and Sam Dyson third.
    • 6/18/2018 - Kelvin Herrera was traded to the Nationals today, where he should slide into the 8th inning role in front of closer Sean Doolittle. What happens in Kansas City to replace Herrera seems more up in the air, but it will likely consist of some sort of committee where no reliever has much if any fantasy value.
    • 6/18/2018 - Hector Neris was optioned to AAA today, leaving Seranthony Dominguez as the clear-cut Philly reliever to own at the moment. While this is still going to be a committee for the foreseeable future, Dominguez should get a chance to run away with the job as long as he continues to be dominant.
    • 6/17/2018 - Jeurys Familia was activated off the DL today. He's expected to resume closing duties, moving Anthony Swarzak and Robert Gsellman back into setup roles.
    • 6/11/2018 - Zach Britton was activated off the DL today and while he is expected to be eased back into the closer role, it shouldn't take too long to happen as he looked like his old dominant self during his rehab stint.
    • 6/11/2018 - Anthony Swarzak was the first to get a crack at the Mets interim closer gig, as he pitched a clean ninth inning on Sunday. Robert Gsellman may see an opportunity here and there while Jeurys Familia is out, but Swarzak looks like the lead dog for the time being.
    • 6/10/2018 - Hector Rondon was used in the 9th inning in a save opportunity for the second game in a row Saturday night, once again leading to speculation in the Astros bullpen. Ken Giles should still be considered the favorite to see the bulk of opportunities the rest of the season (AJ Hinch said as much after the game) but I'd still consider adding Rondon for the time being just until we see how this all plays out moving forward.
    • 6/8/2018 - Jeurys Familia has been placed on the DL with a shoulder injury. Robert Gsellman and Anthony Swarzak are expected to fill in, with us expecting Gsellman to get the first chance.
    • 6/6/2018 - Joakim Soria may be back in the drivers seat as the White Sox closer after finishing of game two of Tuesdays doubleheader after Nate Jones imploded in game one. Still a very volatile situation, but at the moment it looks like Soria could see the bulk of chances in the near future.
