FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (8/17/21): MLB DFS Lineups

cody bellinger fantasy baseball draft sleepers MLB injury news

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel on 8/15/21. John Brubaker's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Happy Tuesday gang! It's Tuesday, which means we have a 15-game slate ahead of us today. We'll have to keep up with the weather as the morning goes on, but as of right now it doesn't appear that we'll have any trouble. I'll do my best to update before lock if there are any weather concerns with the guys I have listed below. Let's get right to it!

This article will provide you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel on 8/17/2021. The lineup will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also check out today's DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports too. It’s also important to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. If you have any questions or comments, contact me on Twitter (@LucidMediaDFS).

FanDuel DFS Starting Pitchers

Corbin Burnes - MIL @ STL ($11,500)

You had to expect Burnes's price to rise after last week's amazing 15 strikeout performance. Burnes has been dominant throughout most of the season, striking out players by the bunches. He's made two starts against St. Louis this season, striking out 18 in 11 innings of work while allowing just one run.

Alek Manoah - TOR @ WSH ($9,900)

If you don't want to pay the daunting price for Burnes, I like Alek Manoah as a cheaper pivot. Manoah has been lights out over his last six starts, allowing just six runs and striking out 44 across 35.1 innings. He has one of the best matchups you can get on this slate against Washington who has dropped 12 of their last 13 games. I expect Manoah to navigate around Juan Soto like he did against Shohei Ohtani last week and get the job done.

Other Options: Vladimir Gutierrez ($8,700), Logan Webb ($7,600)

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Max Muncy - 1B, LAD vs PIT ($3,600)

Muncy showed off his power last evening, going deep to help bring the Dodgers to victory. Look for him to try and repeat the feat tonight, with an A+ matchup against Pittsburgh starter Wil Crowe, who's allowing a wOBA + ISO of .537 against left-handed hitters this season.

Mike Moustakas - 2B/3B, CIN vs CHC ($2,600)

Moustakas has been hot and cold all season, both before and after his injury. He gets a fantastic matchup today against Kyle Hendricks, who's allowing a brutal .609 wOBA + ISO against left-handed hitters this season. Moustakas has a homer and a double in 16 at-bats against Hendricks.

Josh Donaldson - 3B, MIN vs CLE ($3,000)

I don't exactly understand why Josh Donaldson continues to be this cheap. It feels like his price hasn't moved all season, especially after his last three games where he's averaged 14.8 FD points per game. He faces off against Eli Morgan this evening, who's allowing a .618 wOBA + ISO to right-handed hitters.

Corey Seager - SS, LAD vs PIT ($3,200)

Corey Seager has been heating up as of late. He had the night off last night, but has had a hit and at least one run or RBI in his last three starts. He will fit right in with the Dodgers stack I plan to run this evening against Wil Crowe.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Cody Bellinger - OF, LAD vs PIT ($3,500)

Another Dodger who's been heating up, Bellinger has a .617 wOBA + ISO against right-handed pitchers over the last 30 days. He's also been getting a slight boost in lineup position. I don't love him at this price, but if I'm stacking the Dodgers, I want him in here.

Andrew McCutchen - OF, PHI @ ARI ($3,000)

The Phillies head to Arizona this evening in hopes to make a push towards getting their first-place position in the NL East back. With Arizona likely starting lefty Caleb Smith, McCutchen will likely be in the four-hole. An absolute lefty-masher, McCutchen has an insane 1.687 wOBA + ISO against southpaws in the last 30 days.

Chas McCormick - OF, HOU @ KC ($2,300)

McCormick gets a solid matchup against Daniel Lynch, a southpaw who's been better of late, but still has struggled this season. McCormick has a 47.2% hard-contact rate against lefties this season and should get a bump in the lineup with Lynch on the mound.

FanDuel DFS Stacks

  • Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Wil Crowe
  • Colorado Rockies vs. Matt Strahm (projected starter)
  • San Diego Padres vs. German Marquez
  • Philadelphia Phillies vs. Caleb Smith (projected starter)
