NFL quarterback Daniel Jones is a potential 2020 fantasy football sleeper and ADP draft value. Target him as an undervalued QB in fantasy football drafts.
BALLER MOVE: Target Around ~108 Overall
CURRENT ADP: ~126
ANALYSIS: Jones took over for Eli Manning after two games last season, parlaying his NFL baptism into a respectable 24 TDs and 61.9% completion rate despite a hobbled Saquon Barkley that didn't help keep defenses honest that much. The rookie shouldered some rushing responsibility with 279 yards and two scores on 45 carries. His offensive line improved in the draft and he should enjoy a healthy Barkley and Evan Engram to boot. Mix in some Darius Slayton growth alongside Golden Tate’s sure hands in the slot and we could have top-10 fireworks. What's not to love?
Mobile QBs aren’t overlooked like last season--in fact, they are probably getting overvalued--but Jones is still discounted way below his potential. From Week 3 on Jones averaged 18.98 points, ranking 10th among QBs (min. 6 games) in that span. Once again, that’s as a rookie with his major weapon being hobbled.
Some may say it’s a weakness that one-third of his 12 starts accounted for over half of his TD total, with games against Tampa Bay, Detroit, the Jets, and Washington yielding at least four total TDs each. The volatility hurts the image, but over 30 yards rushing in five contests and those top-end results peeking through hints at major upside if he can grow in Year 2, which is something reasonable to expect. I’d rather draft someone who has shown himself capable of greatness, especially given the viability of QB streaming should he fail.
