Should I add Tyquan Thornton, Troy Franklin, Romeo Doubs for Week 4? Read about 3 must-add fantasy football waiver wire pickups, free agent outlooks for 2025.
This early in the fantasy football season, you can find plenty of good wide receivers on the waiver wire. But will the WRs who start the year hot and get snatched off waivers early continue to perform all season? And will any early disappointments turn it up later in the season? Correctly identifying the right players is more important than just blindly picking up whoever went off the week prior.
In this piece, we will look at three young wide receivers who have produced so far this season but possess unclear roles in their respective offenses. This means their target share will vary week-to-week, which could lead to boom-or-bust production.
Are Tyquan Thornton, Troy Franklin, and Romeo Doubs worth adding off the waiver wire in Week 4? Here are the latest outlooks on each for fantasy football.

Thornton might not be relevant for long, but he sure is right now. After washing out of a dysfunctional Patriots offense, the speedster found himself in Kansas City and was thrust into a starting role following Xavier Worthy's shoulder injury.
And Thornton's role has steadily increased -- he was targeted four times in Week 1, five times in Week 2, and nine times in Week 3, leading to the best game of his career. In the Chiefs' 22-9 win over the Giants, Thornton caught five passes for 71 yards and a touchdown.

Thornton has begun to build chemistry with Patrick Mahomes on downfield shots and on third downs. And while Worthy and the suspended Rashee Rice will both be on the field soon, Thornton could still have some value as a WR3 in an improving offense.
At the very least, he is a must-add for Week 4 as the Chiefs' WR1 as of now.
Troy Franklin Week 4 Waiver Wire Pickups
Rostered: 45% of Leagues

The Broncos went into this season with a murky wide receiver situation. Outside of veteran Courtland Sutton, who would emerge as the team's WR2? So far this season, the answer to that has been second-year receiver Troy Franklin.
Following a promising Week 1 (four catches for 44 yards) and a breakout Week 2 (eight catches for 89 yards and a TD), Franklin caught just two passes for eight yards in Week 3. But the underlying numbers show signs of life: Franklin led all Broncos receivers in snaps and posted a 94% route participation. That means head coach Sean Payton trusts him to be the team's WR2.

If he can continue to expand his rapport with college teammate Bo Nix, Franklin could become a reliable flex option down the stretch. Pick him up as soon as possible.

The third receiver in this article is the one with the smallest target share. Despite Jayden Reed's absence due to a broken clavicle, the Packers receiver room hasn't been getting a ton of love, with TE Tucker Kraft leading the team in receptions and yards. However, Doubs has been and continues to be a consistent contributor for the Packers.

Doubs leads all Packers wideouts with 121 receiving yards. But let's be real here: 40 receiving yards per game is not going to move the needle for your fantasy football team. And with the Packers defense looking dominant and the offense continuing to rely on the ground game, he's not likely to see a significant uptick in volume.
If Doubs can't get more involved despite Reed's injury, there's no reason why you should pick him up.
