Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 9:
Treylon Burks, Washington Commanders
Washington wide receiver Treylon Burks has produced solid showings in two straight games, but a tougher matchup in Week 9 keeps him as a deep-league fantasy option only. He had 81 receiving yards on three receptions and five targets in Week 8 and went for 66 yards on four grabs and six targets in Week 6 - Washington had its bye in Week 7. While Burks is trending up as a fantasy asset, a tough test against the Rams awaits.
He's still capable of delivering several fantasy points, but between the matchup and wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Antonio Williams and tight end Chig Okonkwo being other viable options in the pass game, Burks is better suited to just start in deeper leagues.
Christian Watson, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson (rib) is practicing on Wednesday despite having suffered a broken rib in last Thursday night's win over the Carolina Panthers, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN. Watson had to be taken to a local hospital during Thursday's game after spitting up blood, but he returned to the game after being cleared by doctors and finished with eight receptions on 10 targets for 113 yards in the 27-19 victory.
Passing-game coordinator Jason Vrable said on Monday that Watson is sore but is "doing great" heading into the team's Week 9 matchup on the road against the New England Patriots this Sunday.
The 27-year-old will probably be playing through pain and will not be at 100% this weekend, but he should be active and will continue to be a must-start for fantasy football purposes. Watson has been a top-five fantasy receiver in 2026 as a big-play threat in the Packers' aggressive downfield passing attack. He has caught 42 of his 66 targets for 708 yards and six touchdowns already through the first eight weeks.
Michael Wilson, Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Wilson (ribs) had a huge game in his team's 33-30 Week 8 win over the Dallas Cowboys, recording eight receptions for 111 yards and a touchdown on 15 targets. It was a much-needed breakthrough for Wilson, who had failed to record more than four catches or 55 receiving yards in three straight games entering Week 8.
Wilson's production took off after Arizona benched quarterback Jacoby Brissett for veteran journeyman Gardner Minshew II midway through Sunday's win. After the game, Wilson revealed that he is playing through broken ribs, which adds some uncertainty to his fantasy outlook going forward.
Still, Arizona's offense may have some new life with Minshew II under center, and Wilson should continue to see heavy target volume as long as he's active in Week 9 and beyond.
Cam Skattebo, New York Giants
New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo (hamstring) is not practicing on Wednesday, according to team reporter Jordan Raanan. Skattebo pulled up with a hamstring injury during the game-winning drive of the team's Week 7 overtime victory over the Texans, but his status has not since been reported with the team on a Week 8 bye.
The Giants placed Tyrone Tracy Jr. on Injured Reserve with his own hamstring injury suffered in the same game, creating a potential path to meaningful work for veteran Devin Singletary. Skattebo will have two more opportunities to return to the practice field ahead of a Week 9 divisional clash with the Eagles, but his status will need to be monitored, and Singletary becomes a priority pickup wherever he is still available.
Josh Jacobs, Green Bay Packers
Finding the end zone both on the ground and through the air in Thursday night's win over the Panthers, Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs finished the week as the fantasy RB11, and while he has lacked efficiency in his two games since being removed from the Commissioner Exempt List, ESPN's Rob Demovsky reports that more touches could be on the way.
The Packers rank dead last in the NFL with 485 rushing yards and 2.8 yards per carry, with Jacobs contributing only 75 yards on 32 carries. While his three touchdowns in two games have salvaged his fantasy performances, Green Bay's running game will need to improve to keep him in the weekly starting conversation, and offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich told reporters on Tuesday, "The more you feed him, the better he gets."
