Randal Grichuk Traded to Royals
Randal Grichuk was traded to the Kansas City Royals on Saturday. In exchange, the D-Backs received right-handed pitcher Andrew Hoffmann. Grichuk actually played for the D-Backs on Saturday, but was pulled after two-bats because he was traded. This is a nice addition for the Royals offense that is currently struggling to bring in runs. Coming into Saturday, Grichuk was slashing .243/.280/.462 with seven home runs and 22 RBI in 69 games. The Royals are going to be without Jac Caglianone (hamstring) who just landed on the injured list. The move to acquire Grichuk seems like a smart one right now. Hoffmann has only pitched in three games for the Royals this season. However, he posted a 2.25 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and a 55/10 K/BB ratio across 32 games in Triple-A.
