Willson Contreras Out on Wednesday With Stomach Bug
Willson Contreras (illness) is out of action on Wednesday against the hosting Los Angeles Dodgers in the series finale with a stomach bug, according to John Denton of MLB.com. Contreras could be available to pinch hit late in the game. Alec Burleson is starting at first base and is in the three-hole against Dodgers right-hander Shohei Ohtani. It will be Contreras' first day off since July 4, but he should be ready to return to the lineup for a divisional clash on Friday against the Chicago Cubs after another off day on Thursday. So far in five games in August, Burleson has gone 2-for-18 with two RBI and two runs scored. The 26-year-old left-handed hitter has slashed .278/.332/.450 on the season with 14 home runs, 50 RBI, 39 runs and four steals in 353 at-bats. He's hitless in just two career at-bats against Ohtani.
