J.P. Crawford Launches Grand Slam in Victory
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford crushed a tone-setting grand slam in a 7-3 win over the Houston Astros on Sunday. Crawford's first-inning blast off right-hander Jason Alexander handed the Mariners a 5-0 lead they wouldn't give up and helped them to a sweep over their division rivals. The Mariners now lead the Astros by three games for the AL West title. That's thanks in part to Crawford, who went 1-for-4 on Sunday and has hit a solid .266/.353/.374 with 12 homers, 58 RBI, 67 runs scored, and eight stolen bases in 152 games and 638 plate appearances this season. Crawford slumped through July and August, but he has bounced back in September to go 20-for-64 (.313) with three HRs, 12 RBI, and eight runs in 18 games.
