Detroit Tigers infield prospect Kevin McGonigle helped Double-A Erie to victory in Game 1 of the best-of-three Eastern League Championship series. The Tigers' top-ranked prospect went 3-for-5 with a triple, a home run, two RBI, and three runs scored for the SeaWolves. It has been an impressive season for the 21-year-old, who missed a month and a half of action at the beginning of the year due to injury, but put together a strong showing at High-A that earned a promotion to Double-A. The left-handed slugger hit .254 with 12 home runs and seven steals in 46 games for Erie, and tallied more walks (33) than strikeouts (26) at that level. He'll participate in the Arizona Fall League that begins in October, and with his advanced approach, he could see a big league debut sometime next year.--Jarod Rupp
