5 years agoKansas City Royals utility man Whit Merrifield continued to struggle his way through the second half of July as he went 0-for-4 on Friday. Merrifield is in the midst of a 5-for-37 slump since his most recent long hitting streak ended, and it has now been more than 10 days since his last home run. Merrifield has still put up an excellent season and earned his first All-Star berth this year, but slumps happen to everyone. He should pull out of this soon enough and be back to normal. At least his strikeout rate hasn't spiked this time like it did when he slumped earlier in the year.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
