Red Sox, Corey Kluber Agree On One-Year Deal
2 years agoThe Boston Red Sox and free-agent right-hander Corey Kluber agreed to a one-year deal with a team option for the 2024 season on Wednesday, according to sources familiar with the agreement. The New York Post's Jon Heyman reports that the deal is for $10 million, with an $11 million option for 2024. The three-time All-Star and two-time Cy Young winner spent the 2022 season pitching for the Tampa Bay Rays, going 10-10 with a 4.34 ERA (3.57 FIP), 1.21 WHIP and 20.2 percent strikeout rate in 31 starts covering 164 innings pitched. The 36-year-old was respectable for the Rays last year, but injuries will be a concern for fantasy managers, as well as his decrease in strikeout rate and velocity. And staying in the tough American League East in a hitter's park won't be easy as he nears the end of his career.
