Pete Alonso Sitting On Thursday Against Atlanta
2 years agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (wrist) is not in the team's starting lineup on Thursday against the Atlanta Braves. Alonso was forced from Wednesday's contest early after being hit in the wrist by a fastball in the first inning, but thankfully, X-rays came back negative and he's day-to-day with a contusion. The 28-year-old right-handed slugger dodged a bullet and could be back in the lineup as early as Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. In his absence Thursday, Mark Vientos is getting the start at the cold corner and is hitting ninth in the batting order against Braves right-hander Spencer Strider. Alonso is a must-start in fantasy lineups when he's active, as he currently leads baseball with 22 home runs and 49 RBI in 261 trips to the plate over 62 games played.
