Alex Vlasic Out on Tuesday
Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Alex Vlasic (lower body) will miss Tuesday's season opener against the Florida Panthers, Scott Powers of The Athletic reports. After sustaining a skate cut on his leg during an exhibition game on Sept. 28, Vlasic practiced fully on Monday and has been named on the opening-night roster. However, Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill told reporters that Vlasic is not expected to play against Florida. He may be an option later in the week against the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens. In Vlasic's absence, Chicago is poised to utilize Matt Grzelcyk as Sam Rinzel's partner in defense. Grzelcyk only recently earned a contract from the Blackhawks, but he was productive last year with the Pittsburgh Penguins and may interest DFS managers.
