Mackenzie Blackwood Unavailable Tuesday
Colorado Avalanche goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood (lower body) has not traveled with the team ahead of Tuesday's season opener against the Los Angeles Kings, Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette reports. Blackwood arrived at training camp with a lower-body issue and hasn't recovered from the injury quickly enough to be available for the season opener. In total, the Avalanche have three games scheduled for the first week of action, playing the Utah Mammoth and Dallas Stars at home. Scott Wedgewood is set to fill in for Blackwood at the start of the campaign. He looks like a good short-term pickup for fantasy managers, having produced a 13-4-1 record in Denver last season.
