Jermod McCoy Unlikely to Play Against Arkansas
Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said cornerback Jermod McCoy (knee) "continues to do a great job in his rehab," but he did not provide a specific return timeline. The 2024 first-team All-SEC selection suffered a torn ACL early in the offseason and has yet to appear in a game this season. According to sources that spoke to On3's Pete Nakos and Chris Low, McCoy is not expected to play against Arkansas this Saturday. While the Vols getting their best player back for the matchup against Taylen Green and Arkansas this weekend would be a great development for a struggling defense, it would be even more significant if he can return for the Week 8 outing against Alabama for the Third Saturday in October matchup. Tennessee currently ranks last in the SEC in passing yards allowed per game (259.2). A matchup against Germie Bernard and Ryan Williams in Tuscaloosa could prove problematic without McCoy's services.
