Florida Poised to Land Jon Sumrall as Next Head Coach
The University of Florida is expected to hire Tulane's Jon Sumrall as its next head coach, according to On3Sports. Sumrall earned his first head-coaching gig after spending three seasons on the Kentucky defensive staff under Mark Stoops, and has tallied a 42-11 record in two seasons apiece at Troy and Tulane. The 43-year-old won back-to-back Sun Belt titles with the Trojans and has led the Green Wave to consecutive American Conference Championship games. Tulane has a path to the College Football Playoff with a win over North Texas next week, but it could be competing without its head coach. Sumrall is set to take over for Billy Napier, who compiled a 22-23 record in four seasons with the Gators.
