Kentucky Officially Fires Mark Stoops
The University of Kentucky has officially fired longtime head coach Mark Stoops, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. This decision comes after two consecutive losing seasons in Lexington, capped off by a 41-0 loss to Louisville in the final week of the 2025 campaign. Before the 4-8 and 5-7 seasons in 2024 and 2025, Stoops led the Wildcats to a school-record eight consecutive bowl berths, and he won 10 games in 2018 and 2021. With a 72-80 overall record in 13 seasons with the program, Stoops is the winningest coach in Kentucky history. Known as a top-tier defensive mind, Stoops could land a job with another team quickly if he chooses to continue his coaching career right away.
