Pedro Leon Going Through Running, Hitting and Throwing Progression
Pedro Leon (knee) was returned from his rehab assignment last Tuesday due to more soreness in his left knee, but he's now going through a running, hitting and throwing progression, according to The Athletic's Chandler Rome. Leon has been rehabbing this year from a Grade 1 MCL sprain and recently had a setback while playing for Triple-A Sugar Land. The team's No. 18 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, is working his way back but is probably several weeks away from returning to game action down on the farm. The 27-year-old Cuban hit .299/.372/.514 with an .886 OPS, 24 home runs, 90 RBI, 78 runs scored and 29 stolen bases in 118 games last year with Sugar Land and also made his big-league debut, playing in just seven games. Leon has exceptional raw power and strength, but it comes with lots of strikeouts and poor plate discipline.
