The Atlanta Falcons will work out a variety of kickers and could look to replace Younghoe Koo, according to head coach Raheem Morris. While Morris confirmed that Koo is the Falcons' kicker "right now," he explained that they'll bring in young kickers and veteran kickers for an audition. Practice squad kicker Lenny Krieg, whom Morris described as a "developing prospect," will also have a chance to compete for the kicking job. At the peak of his career, Koo was one of the most dependable kickers in NFL history. However, his accuracy has started to decline. He missed nine field goals last season and went 2-for-3 in Sunday's season opener, missing a potential game-tying kick against the division rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers.--Andersen Pickard

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that he will "get on the plane and evaluate" the kicker position after Jake Moody went 1-for-3 on field goal attempts Sunday. One of his kicks was blocked, while the other hit off the left upright from just 27 yards out. Moody's struggles are nothing new, as he went 2-for-6 on field goals over his final three games in 2024. Of course, that means Moody is now just 3-for-9 on field goals over his last four regular-season games dating back to last year. Finding an effective field goal kicker in free agency isn't easy, but the 49ers could soon get desperate if Moody's struggles continue. Shanahan's comments indicate that the Niners aren't committed to replacing the 25-year-old, but they'll at least do their due diligence.--Andersen Pickard

Washington Commanders kicker Matt Gay (illness) was recently cleared to suit up for Sunday's Week 1 matchup against the New York Giants. Gay was brought in during the offseason on a one-year, $4.25 million deal. He has bounced around in the league, but had pretty decent success in 2024. Gay knocked down 31-of-37 field goal attempts while hitting 33-of-33 extra point attempts during the 2024 campaign with the Indianapolis Colts. He's not an elite fantasy option, but should get plenty of chances in Washington. Gay is a viable streaming option against the shaky Giants defense in Week 1.--Andy Webb

Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker Chase McLaughlin will look to keep the good times rolling after a strong 2024 campaign. McLaughlin posted a career-high 93.8 percent conversion rate on field-goal attempts last season. The 29-year-old knocked down 30-of-32 field goals and 54-of-56 extra point attempts across 17 games with the Bucs. He'll enter his third season in Tampa Bay as it appears McLaughlin has found a long term home. The Bucs have a strong enough offense to give McLaughlin plenty of opportunities. McLaughlin should be considered a strong kicking option in what could be a high-scoring game in Week 1 versus the Atlanta Falcons.--Andy Webb

The Buffalo Bills elevated veteran kicker Matt Prater from the practice squad, and he's expected to handle kicking duties in Week 1 with Tyler Bass on injured reserve. Entering his 19th NFL season, Prater brings plenty of experience, including spending the last four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. This is a strong fantasy spot for the 40-year-old kicker, as the Bills remain one of the league's top offenses and face the Baltimore Ravens in a matchup with the highest projected point total of Week 1. While Prater is a temporary fill-in, he still profiles as a solid streaming option and could provide low-end starting fantasy value this week.--Nathan Harvey

Chicago Bears kicker Cairo Santos will open his 12th NFL season on Monday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings. Santos has been a steady presence in Chicago, connecting on over 90% of his field goals in three of the last five seasons. This year brings optimism for the Bears' offense with head coach Ben Johnson and second-year quarterback Caleb Williams at the helm. However, Johnson's track record in Detroit suggests he could favor fourth-down aggressiveness over settling for field goals, which would impact Santos' opportunities. Week 1 presents a tough draw against a Vikings defense that allowed the fifth-fewest points in 2024. Given the matchup and the uncertainty around how the new-look Bears offense will operate, Santos is best left out of fantasy lineups this week.--Nathan Harvey

Minnesota Vikings kicker Will Reichard should be viewed as a low-end starting option during his team's Week 1 matchup against the Chicago Bears. The second-year kicker had an excellent start to his first season -- he made every kick in his first seven games -- but saw his year go sideways with a quadriceps injury that required an IR stint and affected his performance during the season half. Now healthy, he's still attached to a talented Vikings offense that rebuilt its offensive line, added running back Jordan Mason, and traded for receiver Adam Thielen. Chicago can be a treacherous place to kick, but Minnesota will make the journey early in the season with pleasant weather in the forecast.--Nick Piotrowicz

Los Angeles Rams kicker Joshua Karty is a fringe top-12 fantasy option heading into Sunday's season opener against the Houston Texans. With a strong offense in place, Los Angeles should be able to move the football quite well, even against an above-average Texans defense. This should lead to several field goal and extra point opportunities for Karty, who went 29-for-34 on field goals and 32-for-36 on extra points as a rookie last year. SoFi Stadium's ability to protect kicks from elements such as wind also benefits Karty, especially if he attempts any long-distance kicks on Sunday. RotoBaller's experts have the Stanford product ranked as the overall K11 this week, making him startable in leagues with at least 12 teams.--Andersen Pickard

The Jacksonville Jaguars should be better on offense with head coach Liam Coen at the helm, starting with Week 1 against the suspect Carolina Panthers defense. That should mean plenty of kicking opportunities for Cam Little, who proved he had plenty of kicking power when he hit a 70-yard field goal during preseason. The second year pro has interesting upside from a season-long perspective, as the Jaguars have a chance to have a good offense, but not too good, leading to lots of deep field goal chances. Week 1 will be a good starting point for Little fantasy managers who believe in the Jaguars offense this season. With a great matchup and plenty of offensive weapons to move the ball well, Little could be in line for a busy day in Week 1.--Seth Quinn - RotoBaller

Cincinnati Bengals kicker Evan McPherson appeared to be on his way to becoming one of the league's best at the position. However, McPherson's production has gone in the wrong direction since his rookie year, and he finished the 2024 campaign by making only 72.7% of his attempts, a career-low. He was also limited to 12 games due to injury. The Bengals offense can move down the field quickly, which should give the 26-year-old chances to produce for fantasy managers. Still, until McPherson proves he can be trusted to capitalize on his opportunities, managers may want to consider other kickers for the Week 1 AFC North clash with the Browns.--Dennis Clausen

Denver Broncos kicker Wil Lutz enters his ninth NFL season as the Broncos prepare to face the Tennessee Titans. Lutz has spent eight of his nine seasons under head coach Sean Payton and is coming off his best campaign since 2018, making 91.2% of his field goals and finishing as K8 in 2024. Week 1 presents a favorable matchup, with the Broncos heavily favored (-9) over the Titans. Lutz thrived in winning games last season, averaging 10.6 fantasy points per contest when Denver came out on top. RotoBaller currently ranks Lutz as K10 for Week 1, making him a strong start in fantasy this week, especially in games where Denver is projected to dominate.--Nathan Harvey

Miami Dolphins kicker Riley Patterson was elevated from the practice squad ahead of Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts. With Jason Sanders (hip) on injured reserve, Patterson is set to handle kicking duties for the early part of the season. In his four-year career, Patterson has made 63 of 74 field-goal attempts and will be playing for his sixth NFL team in five seasons. The Dolphins vs Colts matchup is projected to score the sixth-most points (46) in Week 1, giving Patterson a potential opportunity for fantasy production. That said, Patterson is currently ranked K23 in Week 1 by RotoBaller, making him a high-risk fantasy option. He's best used as a streaming kicker or a short-term fill-in until Sanders returns.--Nathan Harvey

New York Jets placekicker Nick Folk is set for an unfavorable matchup this Sunday when his team squares off against the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers. Folk appeared in 14 games for the Titans last season, boasting an excellent 95.5% (21-of-22) rate on field goal tries and knocking through all 25 of his extra-point attempts. The 40-year-old was a perfect 6-for-6 on tries of 50+ yards in 2024 and should be a reliable asset for the Jets this year. However, New York could have a difficult time moving the ball against the Steelers in Week 1. Furthermore, Pittsburgh allowed the second-fewest fantasy points per game to kickers last season, and their matchup features the lowest opening-week combined point total in five years (38.5). Folk clocks in as RotoBaller's K31 to kick off 2025.--Alex Ciulla

New Orleans Saints kicker Blake Grupe earned a captaincy nod ahead of his third season in the Big Easy. Through his first two years, he's made 57 of 68 field goals (83.8%) and 71 of 73 extra points (97.3%). The Saints face the Cardinals in Week 1, who allowed the seventh-most points to kickers in 2024. With a potentially inconsistent offense, Grupe's upside is limited until the team can establish a rhythm. He ranks 30th of 32 starting kickers this week on RotoBaller.--Dakota Legg - RotoBaller

Arizona Cardinals kicker Chad Ryland finished in K2 territory (K18 overall) last season despite hitting 87.5% of his field goals. The Cardinals' offense stalled out in a handful of games, which hurt Ryland's overall production since he wasn't getting into field goal range all the time and wasn't bolstering his fantasy output with extra point attempts. According to RotoBaller's rankings, Ryland is projected to be the K15 and could even finish a bit higher if the offense can be more consistent this season. For Week 1, he's projected to get 8.1 fantasy points, but there are better options for teams in 12-team leagues.--Alex Fischbein - RotoBaller
