Commanders Add Jaylin Lane To Wide Receiver Room
Jaylin Lane with the 128th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Lane is a physical and speedy runner who is capable of accruing yards after the catch, but his route running needs improvement. He caught 79 passes for 1,004 yards and eight touchdowns over his final two collegiate seasons. Washington's wide receiver room already features Terry McLaurin, Deebo Samuel Sr., Michael Gallup, and Noah Brown, so Lane's best route to earning playing time could be special teams. The Commanders also presumably aren't ready to give up on Luke McCaffrey, who was last year's third-round pick.

Josh Conerly Jr. Goes At No. 29 Overall To Commanders
Jayden Daniels, so the 21-year-old Conerly could be shifted to right tackle in his first year in the NFL in D.C. Expect Conerly to head into training camp this summer to push Andrew Wylie at right tackle this summer.

The Washington Commanders beefed up their offensive line and selected Oregon offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr. with the No. 29 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft on Thursday night. Conerly stands at 6-foot-5, 311 pounds and was a first-team All-Big Ten selection in 2024 with the Ducks. He was also a finalist for the Joe Moore Award as the nation's top offensive lineman. Conerly started all 14 games for Oregon last year at left tackle and has excellent athleticism on the edge. Commanders Trying To Trade Back From No. 29 Pick
Deebo Samuel Sr. and two mid-round picks for former Texans offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil. That said, a potential move-back for additional picks makes sense in a draft class that is not considered to be strong in the first round. If Washington stays at No. 29, the top edge rusher on its board could be the target.

Jayden Daniels Focused On Improving In 2025
Jayden Daniels recently expressed his desire to continue improving as a player in 2025 on "Gruden Goes Long." "For me, last year was last year. That's great, but it's a whole new year now," said the 24-year-old. "I still got to go out there, I've got to prove myself to my teammates, the organization, each and every day that I'm getting better." Daniels took the league by storm in 2024, capturing Offensive Rookie of the Year honors and guiding Washington to its first NFC Championship appearance since 1991. Encouragingly, the LSU product refuses to rest on his laurels heading into his second year, and the Commanders are building around their young star. The offseason acquisitions of wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. and offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil already serve to boost Daniels' prospects. Furthermore, Washington can stock up on more talent in the draft later this week.

Josh Johnson Joins Commanders
Josh Johnson. The veteran signal-caller is back with the organization after playing four games with Washington during the 2018 season. Most recently, Johnson played with the Baltimore Ravens during the 2024 season as the backup to Lamar Jackson. Now, Johnson is set to serve as the third string behind Jayden Daniels and Marcus Mariota. The 38-year-old is mainly a veteran presence at this point in his career considering he hasn't started a game since 2021. Johnson has played with seven different organizations since being traded by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2008. He won't offer much value on the field, but can be a helpful mentor on the sideline.

Commanders Interested In Extending Terry McLaurin
Terry McLaurin a new deal before the 2025 season, general manager Adam Peters said they've had talks with McLaurin's agent, and they've been positive so far. "We want to make Terry a Commander for a long time," Peters said. McLaurin was a Pro Bowler for the second time in 2024 and posted his fifth straight 1,000-yard campaign by catching 82 of his 117 targets for 1,096 yards and a career-high 13 touchdowns in 17 regular-season starts with impressive rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. The 29-year-old has one year left on the three-year, $68.2 million extension he signed in 2022. The addition of wideout Deebo Samuel Sr. shouldn't really affect Scary Terry's overall volume, although fantasy managers should expect TD regression. Still, with McLaurin paired with the upside of Daniels, he should be a popular WR2 target this fall.

Brandon Coleman Moving To Right Tackle For Commanders
Washington Commanders offensive tackle Brandon Coleman is moving to the right side of the line after starting at left tackle in his rookie season in 2024, according to head coach Dan Quinn. The franchise traded for Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil this offseason, and Coleman is expected to provide depth or competition behind starting right tackle Andrew Wylie. Coleman was a third-round selection out of TCU in the 2024 NFL Draft and played in 16 games (12 starts) a season ago. While this move doesn't directly affect fantasy football, a stronger offensive line and versatile depth at tackle can only help the prospects ofFoster Sarell Inks One-Year Contract With Washington

Deebo Samuel Sr. "Motivated" For 2025
Deebo Samuel Sr. noted in his introductory conference with reporters via The Associated Press that the team is "getting a motivated Deebo." "I'm just ready to get back to work." said the seventh-year pro. "I'm just ready to get around a group of guys, meet with the players, and we just go from there." The 29-year-old hasn't quite reached the heights of his absurd 1,770-yard, 14-touchdown All-Pro season in 2021. However, he has provided a versatile chess piece in Kyle Shanahan's offenses over the years. The South Carolina product also stated that winning is a motivator for him, and he was impressed with the play of second-year quarterback Jayden Daniels during his first stint in the pros. Samuel Sr. should fit opposite teammate Terry McLaurin nicely, adding another playmaker to deploy in Washington's dynamic offense.

Commanders Add Michael Gallup To Receiver Room
Michael Gallup to an undisclosed deal. Gallup was drafted in the third round (81st overall) by the Dallas Cowboys in 2018 out of Colorado State and spent the first six years of his NFL career in Dallas before signing last offseason with the Las Vegas Raiders. The 29-year-old announced his retirement before ever playing in a game with Vegas before deciding he wanted to come back in 2025. He'll now return to the NFC East, where he'll serve as receiving depth behind Terry McLaurin, Deebo Samuel Sr. and Noah Brown, at the very least. It's a poor landing spot for Gallup potentially returning to fantasy relevance, as he'll also be competing with Luke McCaffrey and K.J. Osborn for playing time. Fantasy managers can probably avoid Gallup in drafts this fall.

Noah Brown Working His Way Back From Kidney Injury
Noah Brown (kidney) was cleared two weeks ago to beginning working out this offseason after he missed the end of the 2024 campaign due to a kidney laceration that he suffered in early December in Week 12. Brown had a strong first season in Washington in 11 games (nine starts), catching 35 of his 56 targets for 453 yards, with his only touchdown coming on a dramatic and successful Hail Mary to help beat the Chicago Bears. "I feel like I'm built for this, and I'll come back stronger," Brown said. The 29-year-old was re-signed to a one-year deal to return to D.C. for the 2025 season, but it will be harder for him to make an impact in fantasy after Washington traded for Pro Bowl pass-catcher Deebo Samuel Sr. Brown should still have a role in the Commanders' offense, but as things currently stand, he's looking like more of a WR5/6 in deeper fantasy leagues.

Commanders Rework Deebo Samuel Sr.'s Deal
Deebo Samuel Sr.'s deal on Wednesday and are guaranteeing $17 million of his previously non-guaranteed salary for the 2025 season while also adding another $3 million worth of incentives, sources tell ESPN's Adam Schefter. Samuel will now play his first season in D.C. on a one-year deal worth up to $20 million, including the $17 million guaranteed. The 29-year-old is set to serve as Washington's No. 2 receiver this year behind Terry McLaurin as he looks to bounce back from a disappointing final year in San Francisco in which he had a 51-670-3 line on 81 targets over 15 starts. Samuel, who was an All-Pro in 2021, will be a multi-faceted weapon for an offense led by impressive second-year QB Jayden Daniels. He could bounce back as a strong WR2 in fantasy, but durability is a concern despite him being on the right side of 30.
