Mike Trout Feels The Urgency In 2023
2 years agoLos Angeles Angels superstar outfielder Mike Trout entered spring training feeling healthy, and he also senses the urgency for the organization with two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani set to become a free agent after the 2023 season. "This has got to be the year," Trout said. "It's got to be." Trout dealt with back issues last year, but he has declared himself past the injury. "I feel great," said Trout, now 31. "Obviously you get some aches and pains you didn't get when you were 20, but you get in the training room and get treatment. The back's fine. That was another freak thing. It's over now." Trout was a 6.3 WAR player with a .999 OPS in 2022 despite missing 43 games. The 31-year-old is no longer in consideration for the No. 1 overall pick in fantasy drafts, but he shouldn't be far behind if he's healthy.
