Luis Rengifo Wins Arbitration Case Thursday
2 years agoLos Angeles Angels infielder Luis Rengifo won his salary arbitration case against the team on Thursday, according to a source. Rengifo will earn $2.3 million in 2023 instead of the $2 million that the Angels filed for. The Angels failed to upgrade at the shortstop position in the offseason, so Rengifo is expected to enter 2023 as the primary starter at the position. The 25-year-old hit .264/.294/.429 with a career-high .724 OPS, 17 home runs, 52 RBI, 45 runs scored and six stolen bases in 511 plate appearances and 127 games in his fourth MLB season in 2022. It was a great year for Rengifo, all things considered, but he's a free swinger, which will make him hard to rely on for a useful batting average and on-base percentage.
