Gavin Sheets Making First Start Of The Year
8 months agoWith Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez (groin) out of action on Monday against the Atlanta Braves, outfielder Gavin Sheets will make his first start of the season for the White Sox. Sheets is serving as the designated hitter and batting fifth versus Braves right-hander Charlie Morton. Jimenez is likely to land on the injured list with his injury, so Sheets figures to see more playing time moving forward, at least against right-handed pitching. The left-handed-hitting Sheets is hitless in two at-bats with a strikeout to begin the 2024 regular season. The 27-year-old showed promise in his rookie campaign in 2021 but has been dismal at the plate the last two years. If Sheets doesn't improve in Year 4 in Chicago, he might not stick around for long.
