Eric Hosmer Finding His Stroke
6 years agoSan Diego Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer is enjoying his best month since July 2017, including a three-run homer in Tuesday’s victory against the New York Yankees, his ninth of the year. Hosmer has been a fantasy bust since his breakout 2017 season but currently holds a tidy .298/.347/.471 slash with 63 runs-plus-RBI. The 29-year-old has collected knocks in 13 of 16 contests in May and riding a stellar .896 OPS for the month. While Hosmer is a notoriously streaky player and doesn’t possess the power profile of a stereotypical first baseman, he’s on pace to be a steady four-category contributor in deeper leagues. However, he’s a tough sell on Wednesday against Yankees starter James Paxton. Hosmer holds a .200 average in 10 at-bats against the southpaw and .589 OPS against lefties this season.
