Dodgers Likely To Give Qualifying Offer To Tyler Anderson
2 years agoThere's a good chance that the Los Angeles Dodgers will extend the $19.65 million qualifying offer to All-Star left-hander Tyler Anderson, according to sources. Not many people expected Anderson, 32, to have a breakout season in 2022, but he did. The veteran southpaw went 15-5 with a 2.57 ERA (3.31 FIP), a 1.00 WHIP, 138 strikeouts and 34 walks in 178 2/3 innings over 30 outings (28 starts). Entering the year, Anderson had a career 4.26 ERA. He was able to induce a ton of weak contact, which might have had to do with the fact that he threw his changeup 31.6 percent of the team compared to just 24.6 percent the previous season. If Anderson turns down the offer and signs elsewhere, the Dodgers would receive draft-pick compensation.
