Tampa Bay Rays left-handed pitcher/first baseman Brandon McKay will be sidelined for the foreseeable future due to an injury to his pitching shoulder. The two-way prospect showed flashes of his potential last season across 13 appearances (11 starts) on the mound, striking out 56 batters in 49 innings. The Rays did not use McKay’s bat as much, although he did hit his first big league home run while going 2-for-10. McKay’s injury roadblock likely will limit his usage on the hill in 2020, although the club has not yet announced what the injury means for his work as a hitter. He is still one of the premier keepers league prospects moving forward.--Jesse Borek
