Andreas Athanasiou Signs Two-Year Extension With Blackhawks
2 years agoChicago Blackhawks forward Andreas Athanasiou has received a two-year extension from the club that pays him $8.5 million. The 28-year-old was heading toward unrestricted free agency before inking the new deal. Athanasiou earned himself a nice pay rise off a strong finish to the season, as he was on a one-year, $3 million deal. The speedy forward collected 20 points in the final 24 games of the 2022-23 regular season and finished the campaign with 20 goals and 40 points in 81 games overall. Athanasiou is a strong candidate to accompany Connor Bedard on the first line during his rookie season and it puts him in a great spot to produce a career year.
