Adalberto Mondesi Not Expected To Be Ready For Opening Day
2 years agoBoston Red Sox chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom said he wouldn't bet on shortstop Adalberto Mondesi (knee) being ready for Opening Day. Mondesi is recovering from ACL surgery on his knee, and a best-case scenario would have him being ready for Opening Day as the Red Sox look to replace Xander Bogaerts and Trevor Story (elbow) at shortstop in 2023. The 27-year-old could also see some time at the keystone after coming over from the Kansas City Royals this offseason. With Mondesi likely to open on the injured list, Enrique Hernandez and Christian Arroyo figure to be the team's starting middle infielders. Mondesi has high-end stolen base potential, but he just hasn't been able to stay healthy in his career.
