DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (10/9/21): MLB DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 10/9/21. Mike Marteny's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

The National League has the MLB stage to themselves tonight. We have the Game 2's of the NLDS series between the Braves and Brewers from Miller Park. Then we head out west for the Dodgers and Giants in San Francisco.

It is a great baseball day in both locales. It's a little humid in Milwaukee, but the win will be blowing in if the roof is open. There is a standard wind blowing out at Oracle Park, but that's standard procedure. It wont help or hinder bats.

This article will provide you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 10/9/2021. The lineup will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also check out today's FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks and read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports too. It’s also important to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. If you have any questions or comments, contact me on Twitter.

DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers

Julio Urias - LAD at SF ($7,800)

I'm a little nervous about this since the Giants have a ton of righties to throw at Urias, but he had a 3.38 ERA and averaged 19.5 DraftKings points per game in five games against the Giants this year. They desperately need Urias to come up with another strong start against the Giants here since the Dodgers were blanked in Game 1.

Max Fried - ATL at MIL ($7,000)

Despite being the cheapest pitcher on the slate, Fried is my favorite. He didn't face the Brewers this year, but Fried closed the season on quite a heater. He was 7-0 with a 1.48 ERA in August and September. The guy hasn't lost since July 28 and hasn't allowed more than three runs in a start since July 23. Fried is criminally underpriced and I plan on taking full advantage.

Other Options: Brandon Woodruff ($8,400), Kevin Gausman ($7,600)

DraftKings DFS Infielders

Buster Posey - C, SF vs. LAD ($4,200)

Julio Urias hasn't fared all that well against the Giants in his career. That's shouldn't be too much of a surprise. Posey himself has been successful more than half the time he has faced Urias. He has reached base 12 times in 21 plate appearances. Posey only has two RBI to show for it, but a couple of hits can go a long way with only two games on the docket.

Freddie Freeman - 1B, ATL at MIL ($4,300)

Freeman has only faced Brandon Woodruff nine times, but he has three hits, including a homer, off of him. I'm not going to chase after Woody today, but Freeman at this price seems worth it. He averaged 11.4 DraftKings points per game in seven starts against Milwaukee this year.

Trea Turner - 2B, LAD at SF ($5,400)

Turner mashed to close the season. Despite his 0-fer last night, Turner is still hitting .425 with six homers and 14 RBI in his last ten games. The law of recent averages says he's in for a big one tonight. Kevin Gausman closed the season with a 3.99 ERA after the All-Star break. He's the weakest of the four pitchers tonight, though all of them are very good. It's the nature of the playoffs.

Austin Riley - 3B, ATL at MIL ($4,100)

Riley closed the season strong and he averaged nine DraftKings points per game against Milwaukee this year. On top of that, Riley hit 31 points higher on the road this year with seven more home runs and 11 less strikeouts. It appears that the place to play Riley is on the road and using him against the Brewers isn't a bad idea either.

Corey Seager - SS, LAD at SF ($4,900)

Most of the Dodgers closed the season strong. Seager was no exception. He has six homers since September 26 with a .433 average. In his four games against the Giants this year, Seager hit .462 with a homer in 13 at bats, averaging 10.3 DraftKings points per game. He is 3-for-7 lifetime against Gausman, so that doesn't hurt either.

DraftKings DFS Outfielders

Mookie Betts - OF, LAD at SF ($5,200)

Mookie has crushed Kevin Gausman in his career, mostly when both played in the A.L. East. Mookie has 15 hits in 46 tries with three homers, three steals, ten runs scored, and seven RBI. Gausman has been much better this year than during his time in the A.L. East, but Mookie still looks like a solid play.

Joc Pederson - OF, ATL at MIL ($3,300)

Pederson accounted for the only run last night and he didn't even start the game! Maybe that will earn Pederson the start against Brandon Woodruff, especially considering that Pederson has two solo homers against Woodruff in 14 career at-bats.

Austin Slater - OF, SF vs. LAD ($2,800)

Slater can do some damage against lefties. Starting primarily against lefties with a few pinch hit appearances, Slater closed the season hitting .467 with two homers and four RBI over the last ten games. Predictably, his career stats against Urias are very nice as well. Slater is 6-for-17 with a homer, two RBI, two runs, and a steal against Urias in his career.
