Week 11 Wide Receivers - Waiver Wire Pickups and Adds

Kyle Richardson's recommended fantasy football wide receiver waiver wire pickups for Week 11. These are your free agent fantasy WRs to add, and potential PPR sleepers to stash in 2018.

Playoffs hopes run high. We are closing in on the end of the fantasy football regular season which mean every move becomes more critical. If you are closing in on securing a playoff spot, then you can’t afford to make a bad move on the waiver wire. On the opposite side of that, maybe you are out of it and if you are in a keeper or dynasty league, time to take some flyers for next season. If you are out of it in a redraft league, then you can steal someone off waivers from a top team that really needs the help. A little consolation prize.

Instead of going in depth on a few players, we are going to quick hit many options this week that you should keep your eye on. Not all options are the same. Some players may be better in PPR or deeper leagues, so it’s not a one size fits all comparison. Use your best judgment when deciding which of these players is the right fit for your roster.

Front Runners for Week 11 - Wide Receiver Additions

This group consists of wide receivers that I would recommend adding if they are available on your waiver wire. Some are more viable for PPR formats, so take note of that. These players have either earned a greater workload due to injury/performance issues or have shown that they can be weekly contributors to their NFL teams. All players listed have 50% or less ownership levels across fantasy leagues.

Anthony Miller, CHI - 12% owned

When I wrote this article a week ago, Anthony Miller was only 11% owned. For those one percent that picked up and hopefully played Miller this week, congrats! On RotoBaller Game Day I said I would rather have Miller over Allen Robinson and even though I was wrong about Robinson, Miller still showed up and produced with 122 receiving yards on five catches and a touchdown. Miller now has 10 receptions on 12 targets the past two games and after a tough matchup in Week 11 against Minnesota, Miller will get these same Lions on Thanksgiving Day.

Willie Snead, BAL - 28% owned

Just a weekly reminder that Willie Snead is only 28% owned (less than last week) with matchups against the Raiders, Falcons, Chiefs and Buccaneers after the bye. News of a Joe Flacco injury could also benefit Snead as Lamar Jackson may not look to air it out right away and could instead lean on his slot receiver for help. If you play in a PPR league, Snead is going to be a very safe play each week moving forward.

Danny Amendola, MIA - 44% owned

Another week and another Danny Amendola sighting. Not even 44% owned as the WR1 in Miami. In PPR leagues, Amendola isn’t just a nice addition, but in the discussion as a flex play each. Another 10 targets and seven catches for 72 yards shows that value is there. Tough matchups lie ahead, but a Week 11 matchup with the Colts should prove to be successful.

 

In the Running for Week 11 - Wide Receiver Additions

This group consists of wide receivers widely available on the waiver wire who aren't must-adds but could be worth stashing or streaming if the above options are already taken or if you are dealing with injuries.

John Ross, CIN - 17% owned

The Bengals will be missing A.J. Green for a couple of games at the least, but based on reports Sunday morning, it could be until December before we see Green back on the football field. During that time, someone will need to be the WR2 next to Tyler Boyd and maybe that someone will be John Ross. Ross led the Bengals in targets with six in Week 10 and ended up finding the end zone on one of those targets. The Bengals have some tough matchups to close out the season, but all it takes are two or three catches for Ross to return value each week. If you need depth at wide receiver, Ross could be a nice big play flyer.

Brandon LaFell, OAK - 0% owned

Amari Cooper is gone. Martvis Bryant appears like he could miss some time with a PCL injury. Jordy Nelson has been ineffective all season outside of one game. The Raiders are a disaster and their defense likely won’t be stopping many opponents anytime soon. Brandon LaFell isn’t going to win you any matchup’s this year, but he could provide you with some much-needed fantasy points if you are in a pinch. LaFell has 10 catches for 106 yards and one touchdown over the last three games. Someone will need to catch the ball in Oakland, why not LaFell?

Josh Doctson, WSH - 10% owned

I have already written far too much about Josh Doctson this season and I’m only 15 words into this part of the article. Just like LaFell though, injuries and other circumstances have provided an opportunity to produce. Doctson now has two touchdowns in his last two games and 18 receptions for 188 yards over his last five games. The key is the touchdowns though. Doctson is a red zone threat for the Redskins who are dealing with injuries to Jamison Crowder and Paul Richardson. The Redskins will face some secondaries the next few weeks that could allow Doctson into the red zone more often.

 

Dark Horses for Week 11- Wide Receiver Additions

This group consists of wide receivers who need some more time to show us what they have but should be on our radar still. Don’t jump to add them yet, but another week or two could prove to be fruitful.

Jordan Mathews, PHI - 1% owned

On a team that already has pass-catching options Zach Ertz, Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor plus the new addition of Golden Tate, is Jordan Mathews a waiver wire option heading into Week 11? With seven catches and 133 yards over his last two games, Mathews is finally showing flashes that his truthers have long known he possessed. Now Mathews heads to New Orleans for a juicy matchup that could lead to another viable fantasy performance.

Donte Moncrief, JAX - 10% owned

Jaguars wide receivers have been a pain all year for fantasy owners. Any one of them could have a big week at any given time. I’ve probably covered all of them this year already, but why not give it one more shot? Donte Moncrief is coming off a big performance against the Colts, hauling in three catches for 98 yards and a touchdown. Most of his yards came on the touchdown catch, which went for 80 yards, but maybe we will see more big plays with Leonard Fournette back in the mix? Opposing teams probably haven’t respected the run game for Jacksonville recently, playing further from the line and limiting the passing game. If that changes, we could see some bigger plays like Moncrief down the stretch. It also doesn’t hurt that Moncrief has 14 catches for 208 yards and a touchdown over his last three games. Maybe a WR1 is emerging in Jacksonville?

 

Say Goodbye for Week 11 - Wide Receiver Drops

This group consists of wide receivers who don't need to be owned. They aren't necessarily must-drop players, but if you need the roster space for one of the above players, don't hesitate to cut bait to chase upside.

Taylor Gabriel, CHI - 40% owned

It was fun while it lasted for Taylor Gabriel. The huge performance from Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller with nothing to be heard from Gabriel (three targets, no catches) means it’s time to move on. Gabriel has a nice skill set but Tarik Cohen already fills that type of need and he isn’t a wide receiver that will break off huge weeks when surrounded by better options.

Cordarrelle Patterson, NE - 20% owned

The experiment is over. Cordarrelle Patterson the running back is no more with the return of Sony Michel. Patterson only saw four carries and no targets on Sunday against the Titans. With Michel and James White manning the backfield and Rex Burkhead practicing again, Patterson probably won’t see the touches necessary to be fantasy relevant unless someone is injured again (or maybe if you are in a deeper league that counts return yards). Just like Gabriel, Patterson has a nice skill set, but isn’t built to be a game-changer at any certain position.
