Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 7:
Bucky Irving, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
After missing Wednesday's practice with an illness and logging a limited participation on Thursday, Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving (illness) returned to a full practice on Friday and carries no injury designation into the team's Week 7 divisional matchup with the Panthers. Quarterback Baker Mayfield (thumb) is also expected to play after missing the past two games with an injury to his throwing hand.
With Mayfield potentially limited, and the team without top receiver Emeka Egbuka (concussion, foot), who has already been ruled out, Irving could see more work in the passing game than he has with the more mobile rookie Jalon Daniels under center. Against a Panthers defense that has been beatable on the ground, Irving has multiple paths to a standout performance and is RotoBaller's RB12 for Week 7.
Matthew Golden, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said that there is no concern about wide receiver Matthew Golden (shoulder) as the team prepares to face the division-rival Detroit Lions on Sunday in Week 7, according to Weston Hodkiewicz of the team's official website.
Golden was listed as a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, leaving some concern about his status for the weekend, but fantasy managers should be assured now that the 23-year-old second-year wideout will suit up in Motown.
Quarterback Jordan Love (back) and receiver Christian Watson (ankle) are also dealing with minor injuries but should also be active on Sunday. Golden, a first-rounder last year out of Texas, is following through on his breakout potential in his second year in the league and has been very productive for his fantasy managers, catching 30 passes on 57 targets for 501 yards and three touchdowns so far through six weeks.
He has been the WR7 in half-PPR scoring and should be locked into all starting fantasy lineups against the Lions' shaky pass defense.
Bam Knight, Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals running back Bam Knight made the most of his opportunity in Sunday's 18-16 victory over the Los Angeles Rams, gaining 98 scrimmage yards despite playing fewer snaps than Tyler Allgeier. Knight rushed 15 times for 80 yards, including a 31-yard gain, and caught both of his targets for another 18 yards. Allgeier remained the lead back with 18 carries and 40 offensive snaps, but managed just 38 rushing yards and one reception for 10 yards.
Knight played 32 snaps and might have seen additional work had full-body cramps not limited him during the second half. With rookie Jeremiyah Love (ankle) sidelined, Knight's performance gives Arizona reason to consider a more balanced backfield rotation if Love remains unavailable. Rostered in just 1% of Yahoo leagues, Knight is worth a speculative addition in 12-team formats ahead of Sunday's matchup with Denver.
His longer-term outlook is considerably less certain, as the Cardinals still view him as their third running back when Love is healthy.
J.K. Dobbins, Denver Broncos
Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins wasn't much of a fantasy option through the first few weeks of the regular season. The veteran back has turned a corner recently, which should give fantasy managers more hope. Dobbins has found the end zone in back-to-back games ahead of the Week 7 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. Over that span, Dobbins has rushed for over 100 yards and has seen increased carries as well.
It's beginning to look like the Broncos are trusting Dobbins more as the lead rusher, and RJ Harvey is doing a majority of the receiving work. Fantasy managers in need of a bye week fill-in should consider Dobbins, given his recent stretch of play.
Cam Skattebo, New York Giants
New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo drew praise from offensive coordinator Matt Nagy for the way he handled last week's demotion. According to Dan Duggan of The Athletic, Nagy called Skattebo's response "impressive" and described him as a "true pro." The second-year back was told before Sunday's loss to New Orleans that Najee Harris would start after Skattebo committed his fourth fumble of the season against Washington in Week 5.
He ended up playing just six offensive snaps without a carry or target, even though he entered the game as New York's leading rusher with 294 yards on 81 attempts. Harris was released Tuesday, which leaves Skattebo competing with Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary for opportunities against Houston. Head coach John Harbaugh has acknowledged that none of his running backs has established himself as the clear lead option, so the backfield distribution is still unsettled heading into Week 7.
