Bubba Chandler, Pittsburgh Pirates

Currently At Triple-A
35% rostered

We're starting this week's column the same way we have started every column so far, with Bubba Chandler. The No. 2-ranked prospect in baseball, only behind Boston's Roman Anthony, has continued to dominate Triple-A and is on the verge of his MLB debut.

However, in his most recent outing, Chandler took a slight step back. In this start, the right-hander logged just two innings of work and allowed three runs and four hits. He served up one walk and tallied one punchout.

Prior to this disappointing outing, Chandler logged five shutout frames with four hits, one walk, and tallied eight punchouts.

Through 50 2/3 innings of work this season, the right-hander has posted a 2.49 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP. During this stretch, Chandler has struck out an eye-catching 70 batters while allowing just 22 free passes.

Last season, Chandler made his Triple-A debut and found similar success during his first taste of Indianapolis, holding a 1.83 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP across 39 1/3 innings of work.

Even though the Priaets have opted to promote Mike Burrows before Chandler, he remains a must-stash option in all leagues. When he gets the call, he will carry high-end upside in all formats given his strikeout potential and strong command.

Andrew Painter, Philadelphia Phillies

Currently At Triple-A
5% rostered

Coming in at the No. 2 slot is Andrew Painter of the Phillies. After recovering from Tommy John and missing the entirety of the 2023 and 2024 seasons, Painter has returned to the bump this season and is fast approaching his MLB debut.

Painter was able to pitch in the Arizona Fall League but was held out of action during spring training to preserve his workload.

The Phillies opted for their top prospect to open the campaign with Low-A Clearwater. Across 11 1/3 innings of work, the right-hander struck out 12 batters and allowed just one walk.

He was then given the green light to make the jump to Triple-A, where he currently resides. In his most recent outing on June 4, Painter struggled as he allowed six hits and four runs across four frames. However, prior to this minor skid, Painter held a 2.65 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP through his first 17 frames at the level.

During this stretch, he tallied 20 punchouts and allowed just one long ball.

While manager Rob Thompson noted that it is "unlikely" Painter reaches the majors until after the All-Star break, he remains a strong stash option in all 12-team leagues. In 2022, Painter struck out an incredible 155 batters in just 103 2/3 innings of work. When he gets the call, he will carry just as much upside as Chandler.

Jacob Misiorowski, Milwaukee Brewers

Currently at Triple-A
1% rostered

While Chandler and Painter both came off disappointing outings, Misiorowski was the opposite. On June 7, Misiorowski tossed five shutout frames against Triple-A Gwinnett. In this outing, Misiorowski struck out seven batters while allowing just two hits with three walks.

Since April 22 (44 2/3 innings), Misiorowski has been one of the most dominant pitchers at the Triple-A level. During this stretch, Misiorowski has tallied 59 punchouts while holding an impressive 1.81 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP. He served up just 19 walks and allowed only two long balls over this stretch.

Over his first four starts of the season (18 2/3 innings), Misiorowski allowed 12 walks and only tallied 21 punchouts. In this stretch, he held a higher 2.89 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP.

The No. 71-ranked prospect in baseball continues to improve at Triple-A and is making a strong case to reach the majors. With Brandon Woodruff (elbow) facing setbacks in his rehab assignment, do not be surprised if the Brewers turn to their budding ace.

Chase Burns, Cincinnati Reds

Currently At Double-A
1% rostered

Welcome to the stash list, Chase Burns!

The Reds selected the hard-throwing right-hander with the second pick in last year's MLB Draft out of Wake Forest. The Reds opted for the 22-year-old to make his professional debut at the start of this season, and not during the final months of the 2024 campaign, like fellow rookies did, such as Jac Caglianone, Nick Kurtz, and Travis Bazzana.

Burns opened the season with High-A Dayton and needed just three starts to prove he was ready for a promotion. Across three starts (11 2/3 innings), Burns tallied 20 strikeouts while holding a 3.09 ERA and a stellar 0.86 WHIP.

Then, with Double-A, Burns has continued to dominate. Through his first 42 frames, Burns has held a near-perfect 1.29 ERA with a 0.71 WHIP. The right-hander has struck out 55 batters while allowing just four walks.

On Sunday evening, Burns received some very positive news as he earned a promotion to Triple-A. Burns is now just one stop away from the major leagues and is approaching his MLB debut much faster than expected. Burns is developing into the top pitching prospect in baseball.

Quinn Mathews, St. Louis Cardinals

Currently At Triple-A
1% rostered

Remember him? Mathews was a popular name in this column during the opening month of the campaign, but suffered a shoulder injury. However, Mathews is back in action and remains on a trach to reach the majors this season.

In his most recent outing, Mathews tossed five innings of one-run ball (no earned runs) with five hits and no walks. In this start against Triple-A Indianapolis, he struck out six batters. This was a much-needed bounce-back for Mathews as he allowed two runs in 2 2/3 innings in his first start since returning from the Triple-A IL.

Before the injury, Mathews had a rough start to the season, allowing seven runs in just 10 1/3 innings of work.

Last season, the left-hander was one of the most impressive pitchers in the minor leagues. He opened the season with Low-A but was able to reach Triple-A by the end of the campaign. Through 143 1/3 total innings, Mathews held a 2.76 ERA with a 0.98 WHIP.

Given his strong 2024 campaign, Mathews may only need a few more outings at Triple-A before earning the call to St. Louis.
