Week 8 DraftKings NFL DFS Picks - Main Slate (2024): Jordan Love, Joe Mixon, Drake London, and more

Drake London - NFL, Fantasy football rankings, waiver wire, dfs

Joe Nicely's DraftKings NFL DFS picks and lineup sleepers for the Week 8 (October 2024) Main Slate. His top daily fantasy football lineups to target for DraftKings DFS contests.

Welcome back, RotoBallers! I hope you guys are pumped for an exciting Week 8 Main Slate on DraftKings. With no bye weeks and no London game, we get a jam-packed Week 8 slate. Despite all those matchups on the board, I'd argue there are few true "obvious" environments for guaranteed DFS fireworks. Throw in a few key injuries and this has all the makings of a wild Sunday of action.

These DraftKings lineup recommendations are based on matchups, projected DK points and ownership, overall upside/talent levels, and opportunity, as well as factors such as Vegas odds, home-field advantage, and more. There are quite a few great plays available on DK for Week 8.

Also, be sure to check out our weekly FanDuel DFS lineup picks and lots of other great NFL DFS articles and NFL DFS tools to help you win MORE in 2024! Good luck with your DraftKings DFS lineups -- let's dominate this slate together!

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

DraftKings Quarterbacks - Week 8 DFS Picks

Jordan Love - GB at JAX ($7,100)

Fresh off posting 220 passing yards and three TDs against a solid Houston Texans defense in Week 7, Jordan Love draws a dream matchup against the Jaguars this week. To say the Jacksonville pass defense has been abysmal is an understatement, as the Jags have allowed the NFL's most passing TDs (16) this season and are relinquishing a chunky 8.0 yards per pass attempt to opposing QBs.

Love has displayed an elite combination of DFS floor and ceiling this season. He hasn't scored less than 17.0 DraftKings points in any of his five 2024 starts and he's eclipsed 25.0 DK points in two of those five. The Packers sport a juicy team projected total of 26.5 points in this matchup and Love has the potential to rack up slate-winning stats against the Jags.

Bo Nix - CAR at DEN ($5,600)

I certainly didn't enter the week expecting to have Bo Nix on my radar, but here we are, which I suppose is what makes DFS so damn fun. While the rookie's game log doesn't blow us away, some underlying things pique my interest, most notably his underrated rushing ability.

Nix ranks fourth among NFL quarterbacks in rushing yards (255) and TDs (three). He's now rushed for 60 or more yards in Denver's last two games. In addition to Nix's improving play, we also can't ignore just how absolutely terrible the Carolina defense he'll face in Week 8 really is. I'm talking like on-a-historical-trajectory bad.

The Panthers rank dead last in the NFL in points per game (34.7) allowed. This unit is one of just two defenses in the league that has relinquished 14 or more passing TDs and an average of more than 8.0 yards per attempt to opposing QBs.

DraftKings Running Backs - Week 8 DFS Picks

Joe Mixon - IND at HOU ($7,700)

While there have undoubtedly been injury issues, Mixon has been a beast when he's been able to get on the field for the Texans. Houston's offseason acquisition has been all they could have hoped, as the 28-year-old has rushed for over 100 yards in all three healthy games he's played in 2024.

One of those performances came against the Colts in the season opener, a game in which Mixon destroyed Indy for 159 yards on the ground. He should again find success against the struggling Colts' run defense in Week 8 with Indianapolis coming into this matchup having allowed the third-most rushing yards (876) in the NFL to enemy RBs this season.

Kareem Hunt - KC at LV ($6,300)

While Kareem Hunt might not be the explosive player he once was, the veteran has Andy Reid's trust, which has led to Hunt earning full control of the Kansas City backfield. Since signing with the Chiefs off the street and earning 15 opportunities in his first appearance in the lineup back in Week 4, Hunt has been the unquestioned workhorse for this team.

He's garnered touch counts of 28 and 24 across KC's last two which he's converted into an average of 22 DK points across those contests. In Week 8, Hunt draws a floundering Raiders defense that's allowing the NFL's third-most points per game (26.1) and a chunky 4.95 yards per carry to the running back position.

DraftKings Wide Receivers - Week 8 DFS Picks

Drake London - ATL at TB ($7,200)

The hope around the fantasy industry was that the addition of Kirk Cousins would unlock Drake London, a player that most believed was a talented player stuck in a horrible situation last season. Well, mission accomplished.

Cousins has steadily fed London looks over the first half of the season. He enters Week 8 standing third in the league in targets (62), receptions (44), and TDs (five), as well as second in red zone targets (12).

A juicy matchup against the Bucs awaits this week. London set fire to the Tampa Bay secondary in Week 5, reeling in 12 of 13 targets for 154 yards and a score. There's no indication that Tampa will fare any better this time around, as they've coughed up seven TDs to opposing wideouts over the last four weeks.

Jalen McMillan - ATL at TB ($3,700)

The other side of this NFC South matchup features a Bucs receiving corps that was decimated by injuries in a Monday night loss to the Ravens. Tampa Bay lost Chris Godwin for the season with a dislocated ankle and Mike Evans for multiple weeks with a hamstring issue.

Now this Bucs passing attack - which has been one of the most formidable in the NFL this season - will utilize a combination of Jalen McMillan, Trey Palmer, and Sterling Shepard in the absence of Godwin and Evans. My money is on the rookie McMillan leading the way.

The third-round pick out of the Univesity of Washington was the toast of Tampa Bay training camp this preseason and was targeted an eye-opening eight times in last week's loss to the Ravens.

Being thrust into the role of WR1 at the NFL level won't be easy, but he could make some plays against a Falcons secondary that ranks dead last in the NFL in catch rate (72.1%) allowed to opposing receivers.

DraftKings Tight Ends - Week 8 DFS Picks

Brock Bowers - KC at LV ($6,100)

I'm pretty sure that Brock Bowers is the player I've written up in this article most often through the first seven weeks of the season. So, while I'm sorry if my love of the Raiders rookie makes for repetitive reading, I'm also not sorry because my job is to help you play the best plays, and Bowers has been the most productive tight end in the NFL this year. He leads all TEs in targets, receptions, yards, and DraftKings points score through Week 7.

Normally, I'm happy to shy away from a rugged Kansas City defense, but defending tight ends has been this unit's Achilles heel this year. The Chiefs have allowed the most DK points in the league to the TE position and rank near the bottom of the NFL by nearly every metric when it comes to defending opposing tight ends.

With Davante Adams gone, and no other legitimate offensive weapons, Bowers should continue to be peppered with targets this week.

David Njoku - BAL at CLE ($5,100)

I'm sure Cleveland fans are in a mass state of absolute depression now that Deshaun Watson has been lost for the season. Ok seriously, the Browns will roll out Jameis Winston against the Ravens in Week 8, and while Winston is an interception machine, he should also add a downfield element that Cleveland hasn't had with Watson under center.

One of the biggest benefactors of Watson's absence (besides Browns fans) should be tight end David Njoku, who went into beast mode when Joe Flacco stepped in for the Browns last season.

Playing with a combination of three Cleveland quarterbacks last week, Njoku drew a ridiculous 14 targets which he turned into a 10/76/1 stat line. With Amari Cooper now in Buffalo and Jerry Jeudy being largely ineffective, "The Chief" should serve as Cleveland's de facto WR1 for the rest of the year.

He draws a matchup against a Ravens defense that isn't what it used to be. Baltimore has been burned by the TE position in 2024 and has allowed three different tight ends to top 90 receiving yards against them this season.
