Is Duke Ellis a fantasy baseball waiver wire pickup for hitters heading into Week 11 (2024)? Read the fantasy football outlook for the White Sox outfielder.
BALLER MOVE: Do not add.
ROSTERED IN: 0% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Duke Ellis is a former 20th-round pick making his first trip to the major leagues at 26 years old. The White Sox called him up on Tuesday and immediately allotted him a pinch-running opportunity. Ellis stole his first career base but was picked off soon after and has not made a start for the lowly White Sox yet.
Asked Duke Ellis what makes him such a good base stealer.
‘No fear. No fear of getting picked off, no fear of getting thrown out.’
— Daryl Van Schouwen (@CST_soxvan) June 4, 2024
Ellis was not much of an offensive producer throughout his minor league career and dealt with multiple injuries throughout 2023. In his best offensive season (2021), Ellis hit .273 with seven HRs in 100 games, resulting in a 109 wRC+. That was as a 24-year-old in High-A, which does not suggest much for his capabilities.
Ellis is unlikely to do anything in fantasy outside of stealing occasional bases, which is not worth wasting a roster spot for in the modern landscape with more steals than throughout the past decade. In all likelihood, Ellis will be sent down as he is not an MLB-caliber hitter.
