How Does The 2024 Pro Bowl Work? Pro Bowl Games Explained

Tua Tagovailoa - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

The 2024 Pro Bowl will take place in Orlando this year, one week before the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs compete in Super Bowl LVIII. The Pro Bowl is a great time to see the game's best stars all in one place and playing against each other.

But the Pro Bowl does not just feature a game anymore. The NFL has decided to expand the event and call it the Pro Bowl Games, which includes various competitions between the AFC and the NFC.

So, how does the 2024 Pro Bowl work? What type of competitions take place? Let's dive in and explain the Pro Bowl Games.

Editor's Note: Our incredible team of writers won two writing awards and received 12 award nominations by the Fantasy Sports Writers Association. A big congrats to our very own Byron Lindeque (Golf) and Jordan McAbee (NASCAR) for both winning Writer Of The Year awards! The Pro Bowl Games: Thursday

Following the new format introduced in 2017, the NFL has split up the Pro Bowl into two different days. Thursday is when your favorite stars compete in various skills competitions. This year, the NFC will battle the AFC in seven showdowns on Thursday.

The seven games are as follows: Precision Passing, Best Catch, Closest to the Pin, High Stakes, Dodgeball, Kick Tac Toe, and Snap Shots. Six of the seven games have been played before, but Snap Shots will be a new skills competition at the Pro Bowl Games. This new game will give long snappers and centers some love, as they try to hit targets while snapping the ball.

The other six competitions will be repeats from years prior. Precision Pass will give six quarterbacks (three from each conference) one minute to hit as many targets. Best Catch will see which player can make the most insane catch. Closest to the Pin is a golf game, seeing which players can drive the ball the closest to the hole. High Stakes will see how many footballs a player can catch from a machine while holding the previous footballs in their hand, and Kick Tac Toe will set up a friendly game of Tic-Tac-Toe between kickers.

Finally, arguably the most exciting part of Thursday's festivities, is the dodgeball game between the NFC and the AFC.

The Pro Bowl Games: Sunday

Thursday's entertainment will continue into Sunday, as there will be a mixture of skills competition and flag football games. To kick things off on Sunday, two players from each conference will go head-to-head in Madden. Last year, Justin Jefferson and Micah Parsons represented the NFC, while Sauce Gardner and Tyreek Hill represented the AFC.

After that, the NFC and AFC will battle in a Gridiron Gauntlet -- featuring a relay race obstacle course -- a new Tug-Of-War competition, and a Move the Chain competition, where offensive and defensive linemen have to remove 3,000 pounds of weight from a wall.

All this sets up for an exciting flag football game between the AFC and NFC. The flag football game will be seven-on-seven and will consist of three individual games.

The winner of the Pro Bowl Games between the AFC and NFC will be determined by how many points they earn throughout the two days. Each skills competition victory is worth three points while winning one of the first two flag football games will be worth six points. Then, the points accumulated so far for both sides will be the starting point for the final flag football game.

Whichever conference has the most points at the end of the third flag football game will win the 2024 Pro Bowl Games. The NFC won last year, so the AFC will try to get on the winning side of things this year.
