The Washington Nationals traded 33-year-old right-hander Kyle Finnegan to the Detroit Tigers on Thursday. Finnegan will now join the first-place Tigers as they look to make a push to win a division title and make a deep run in the playoffs. It's been an up-and-down season for Finnegan, as he has 20 saves out of 26 save opportunities this season. He was ranked sixth in the National League in saves. However, he owns a 4.38 ERA to go with a 1.28 WHIP. In his career, Finnegan has 108 saves. Finnegan figures to be the seventh- or eighth-inning guy for the Tigers, which decreases his value. Will Vest appears to have a good hold on the closer role, and Tommy Kahnle and Tyler Holton have been solid as middle relievers while also getting a few saves from time to time.--Nicho RoesslerSource: Jon Morosi

The early returns on Carolina Panthers rookie first-round wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan have "been glowing," a Panthers source told FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz. "He's been even better than advertised -- smooth, explosive, and already gaining trust from the QBs. You can't take your eyes off him at practice because he's making so many big plays." McMillan dealt with a minor leg injury in minicamp but is full-go now and is looking great after the Panthers took him eighth overall in April's NFL draft. The 22-year-old will be the team's X receiver right away as he looks to become one of quarterback Bryce Young's favorite target right away. McMillan will be competing for targets with Xavier Legette and veteran Adam Thielen. If Young takes another step forward in Year 3, McMillan could be a bargain with WR2 upside in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts.--Keith HernandezSource: FOX Sports - Jordan Schultz

The San Diego Padres traded right-handed pitching prospect Henry Baez alongside Leodalis De Vries, Braden Nett, and Eduarniel Nunez in exchange for right-handed pitcher Mason Miller and left-handed pitcher JP Sears. Baez was ranked as the No. 12 overall prospect in the San Diego system on MLB Pipeline before the trade. This season, the 22-year-old right-hander has spent the entire campaign pitching for Double-A San Antonio. Through 96 2/3 innings with San Antonio, Baez has posted a stellar 1.96 ERA with a 1.00 WHIP. He has struck out 89 hitters and allowed just 31 free passes. Last season, Baez held a much higher 3.06 ERA at Double-A. Given his steady production at Double-A this season, he could be in the mix to make his Triple-A debut in Las Vegas during the second half.--Andy SmithSource: Jeff Passan

The Cleveland Guardians are acquiring right-handed pitcher Khal Stephen from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for right-handed pitcher Shane Bieber (elbow). Before the trade, Stephen was considered the No. 9-ranked prospect in the Toronto system on MLB.com. The Blue Jays drafted Stephen with the 59th overall pick in last year's MLB Draft out of Mississippi State. He made his professional debut earlier this season with Low-A Dunedin. Through 39 1/3 innings, Stephen held a strong 2.06 ERA with a 0.92 WHIP. He then moved up to High-A, where he posted an elite 1.49 ERA with a 0.85 WHIP across 48 1/3 innings of work. He was given the call to join Double-A, where he has logged four innings of four-run ball. Fantasy managers should expect Stephen to report to Double-A in the Cleveland system. Given his progression, he should be in the mix to debut in 2026.--Andy SmithSource: Jon Morosi

Atlanta Falcons rookie linebacker/edge rusher Jalon Walker (hamstring) will miss his third consecutive practice on Thursday, according to Josh Kendall of The Athletic. Walker's injury has been described as "very minor" by Falcons head coach Raheem Morris. A first-round draft pick out of the University of Georgia, Walker recorded 37 solo tackles, 6.5 sacks, and 11 TFLs in 14 games for the Bulldogs in 2024. The 21-year-old is expected to be an immediate contributor for a Falcons defense that has been desperate for pass-rushing talent in recent seasons. It doesn't sound as though this current injury puts Walker at risk for significant missed time, but with every practice he misses, Walker loses out on valuable preparation time for his first NFL season.--Will BradySource: The Athletic - Josh Kendall

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Diontae Johnson has "mostly played with the second and third offensive units" in training camp practices, according to Zak Jackson of The Athletic. Jackson writes that Johnson may be competing with second-year wideout Jamari Thrash for the primary slot receiver role, or "even for a roster spot." In 12 games last season split between the Carolina Panthers, Baltimore Ravens, and Houston Texans, Johnson recorded 33 catches for 375 yards and three touchdowns. The 29-year-old has significantly more NFL production under his belt than Thrash, who had just three catches in nine games for Cleveland as a rookie in 2024. Johnson had been a useful fantasy player for most of his career up until 2024, but it appears he has some work to do just to make the Browns roster heading into 2025.--Will BradySource: The Athletic - Zac Jackson

New York Jets running back Braelon Allen has been "one of the stars of camp so far," and the Jets are "going to have a hard time keeping Allen off the field," according to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. A fourth-round pick in 2024 out of Wisconsin, Allen rushed for 334 yards and two touchdowns on 92 carries as a rookie. He's the nominal backup to Breece Hall in New York, but there's been steady buzz coming out of Jets' camp that the two backs will share the workload fairly evenly. Rosenblatt notes that Jets head coach Aaron Glenn has "made it a point" to talk up Hall's receiving ability, which could point to more third-down work for Hall and early-down work for Allen. There's a significant difference in where the two Jets backs are being drafted by fantasy managers, so Allen could end up being a steal if New York does indeed opt for more of a 50/50 split.--Will BradySource: The Athletic - Zack Rosenblatt

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back Bhayshul Tuten (hamstring) participated in positional drills but not in the team portions of Jacksonville's training camp practice on Thursday, according to ESPN's Mia O'Brien. Tuten had missed the last few days of practice with a hamstring injury, but it appears as though it will not cause him to miss significant time. Drafted in the fourth round out of Virginia Tech, Tuten rushed for 1,159 yards and 15 touchdowns in 11 games last season for the Hokies. He's competing with Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby for playing time in the Jaguars' backfield, but early reporting indicates that Tuten is the clear RB3 in Jacksonville at this point.--Will BradySource: ESPN - Mia O'Brien

Minnesota Vikings running back Jordan Mason looks explosive and "built" in training camp, according to Sean Borman of Vikings Territory. A free-agent addition by Minnesota this past offseason, Mason logged 153 carries for 789 yards and three touchdowns in 12 games for the San Francisco 49ers in 2024. He's expected to work in a timeshare with veteran Aaron Jones in the Vikings' backfield in 2025. Mason has historically struggled as a pass-catcher (14 career receptions), but he's been a highly efficient rusher (5.3 rushing yards per attempt on 236 career carries). That could make him the ideal complement for the 30-year-old Jones, who is an excellent receiver out of the backfield but may not be able to handle a large workload as a rusher at this point in his career.--Will BradySource: Vikings Territory - Sean Borman

The Orioles placed right-hander Zach Eflin (back) on the 15-day injured list Thursday with lower back discomfort. The move comes just two starts after he returned from a back injury that sidelined him in late June. Eflin has struggled this season despite a 6-5 record, posting a 5.93 ERA, 16.2% strikeout rate, and a 5.8% home run rate. While the injury raises concern, he could still draw interest from contenders in need of rotation depth. If healthy by September, Eflin may provide value down the stretch. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues should keep him on the radar.--Shaun AlbinSource: Jacob Calvin Meyer

The New York Yankees are actively seeking bullpen reinforcements ahead of the trade deadline, with Pirates closer David Bednar emerging as a top target. Bednar owns a 2.37 ERA and 17 saves on a struggling Pittsburgh squad, while posting a career-best 33.1% strikeout rate. With Devin Williams underwhelming this season, the Yankees are expected to be aggressive in pursuit of late-inning help. Bednar would offer immediate high-leverage value and could even factor into closer duties in New York. Fantasy managers should monitor closely, as a move could boost his save chances.--Shaun AlbinSource: Jon Heyman

Sacramento Kings forward/center Dario Saric is looking forward to a fresh start and hopes to become a regular rotation player again in 2025-26. "I went to Sacramento, passed medicals, talked to the coach and general manager," Saric told reporters after practice with the Croatian team ahead of the Pre-Qualifiers of the FIBA World Cup 2027. "I received positive feedback. I hope to get minutes at the four and five positions. But you never know for sure. I thought I was going to play in Denver too, but I ended up sitting on the bench." Last season, Saric made only 16 appearances for the Nuggets, averaging 3.5 points and 3.1 rebounds in 13.1 minutes. With career averages of 10.4 points and 5.3 rebounds, Saric has proven that he can be a useful piece for fantasy managers. But he needs to have a consistent role on a team to make an impact.--Taavi PailkSource: Eurohoops

Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr. remains one of the biggest names likely to move at the trade deadline. While the Mets and Phillies are still in play, the Padres have emerged as the top contender. San Diego is looking to boost its outfield, with Robert a potential upgrade over struggling veteran Jason Heyward (.176 AVG). Despite batting just .213, Robert is getting on base with a career-best 10.5% walk rate. He'd be a dynamic addition alongside Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado. Fantasy managers should stash him now ahead of a potential move to a contender.--Shaun AlbinSource: Mark Feinsand

Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Donte DiVincenzo will not be part of Team Italy at the EuroBasket 2025 after sustaining an injury. "I just wanted to say how happy, thankful, and excited I am to finally become an Italian citizen. I want to thank the Federation and Italian institutions for making all this happen in record time. Unfortunately, I'm sorry I will not be able to join the national team this summer due to a physical issue," DiVincenzo said in a statement. DiVincenzo's injury will reportedly take "several weeks" to heal, meaning it could also affect his status for the start of the new NBA season. During his first year in Minneapolis, DiVincenzo posted 11.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.--Taavi PailkSource: BasketNews

The Atlanta Braves have added veteran right-hander Carlos Carrasco (2-2) to the active roster, and he'll start Thursday night against the Reds. Carrasco was acquired from the Yankees on Monday and brings a 5.91 ERA with a 1.531 WHIP over six starts this season. The 38-year-old owns a 17.6% strikeout rate, while opponents are slashing .298/.345/.527 against him. With limited swing-and-miss stuff and a tough Reds lineup on deck, fantasy managers should steer clear of Carrasco for now. His role going forward remains uncertain as Atlanta looks to stabilize its injury-riddled rotation.--Shaun AlbinSource: Atlanta Braves

Chicago Bulls guard Ayo Dosunmu is expected to remain with the team for the start of the 2025-26 campaign. He has been linked with a move elsewhere, but Bulls insider K.C. Johnson has reported that "all signs for now point to Ayo Dosunmu returning" to the Bulls. According to Johnson, the Bulls had trade talks regarding Dosunmu earlier this offseason with a Western Conference playoff team. Dosunmu has spent his entire four-year NBA career with his hometown Bulls. He had a career year in 2024-25, averaging 12.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists, although health issues limited Dosunmu to 46 appearances. Dosunmu is entering the last year of his contract, which should motivate him to perform well in 2025-26.--Taavi PailkSource: K.C. Johnson

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers (shoulder) is expected to practice on Thursday. However, the former LSU standout could potentially be limited at times during the session. Head coach Brian Daboll said, "We'll put him out there and he'll do what he can do," and that the team "has a plan." Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status in case he faces a setback later in training camp. Nabers left Tuesday's practice session early due to this shoulder injury. However, seeing him cleared to return in any capacity is a very positive sign. During his rookie season, the former sixth overall pick immediately flashed immense upside at the NFL level, tallying 1,204 yards and seven scores. He should be viewed as a high-end WR1 in all formats, entering the 2025 season.--Andy SmithSource: Ralph Vacchiano

Washington Commanders rookie wide receiver Jaylin Lane has been seeing time with the first team during the early stages of training camp. According to Lynell Willingham of 1067 The Fan, the rookie out of Virginia Tech was being used as a decoy on a jet sweep during Thursday's practice session. The Commanders selected the wide receiver in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft with the 128th overall pick. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he may be pushed back to a reserve role once Terry McLaurin and the team resolve their contract dispute. During the past two seasons at Virginia Tech, Lane averaged 585 scrimmage yards per season and scored 10 total touchdowns. If Lane were to continue to impress, he could eventually jump Noah Brown and Luke McCaffrey on the depth chart. For now, he remains a stash option in deeper dynasty leagues.--Andy SmithSource: Lynnell Willingham

The Detroit Tigers have acquired right-hander Paul Sewald (shoulder) from the Guardians ahead of the MLB trade deadline. The return package has not been announced. Sewald is currently on the injured list with a moderate teres major strain, and hasn't pitched since July 12. In 18 appearances this season, he owns a 4.70 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and strong 29% strikeout rate, while holding hitters to a 32.5% hard-hit rate. Once healthy, Sewald should slide into high-leverage work for Detroit and be a valuable bullpen piece during the fantasy playoffs. A return in August remains the most likely timeline.--Shaun AlbinSource: Chris McCosky

Power forward Malevy Leons has signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder to link up with the NBA champions for training camp. After going undrafted, Leons made six appearances with the Thunder last season. The Dutch forward logged a total of 20 minutes. However, he found success in the G League, averaging 10.0 points and 7.3 rebounds. Leons also played well in the Summer League with the Thunder, notching 10.0 points and 4.9 rebounds across eight appearances.--Taavi PailkSource: Brandon Rahbar

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle has been one of the top performers in training camp, according to the Miami Herald's Omar Kelly, who calls Waddle the "new top dawg." Since Tyreek Hill (wrist) is working his way back after two offseason surgeries, Waddle has taken advantage of his chance to work with Tua Tagovailoa. Tua said that he and Waddle have grown their chemistry, and coach Mike McDaniel has pointed to Waddle's offseason work as exemplary. If Waddle can pass Hill for more looks and opportunities in the Dolphins' passing game, he could end up being a top-10 receiver in fantasy football. He has an extremely high ceiling, and brings the potential to be a "top dawg" for your fantasy team this season as well.--Zach ThompsonSource: Omar Kelly

Guard/forward Daeqwon Plowden has signed a two-way contract with the Sacramento Kings. The 26-year-old was a free agent after being waived by the Phoenix Suns earlier this month. Plowden appeared in his first six NBA games with the Atlanta Hawks last season, averaging 7.2 points in 12.0 minutes, with an impressive 52.9 percent shooting from three-point range. He's been a reliable scorer in the G League and was part of the Kings' Summer League team. Plowden's averages of 7.3 points and 2.7 rebounds in Vegas were apparently enough to earn a two-way deal with the Kings.--Taavi PailkSource: NBA.com
